Solo Hiking Rockywood Trail in Washington State Park Missouri

Today I’m solo hiking Rockywood Trail in Washington State Park. Rockywood Trail is a roughly 6 mile loop trail featuring beautiful Missouri bluff views overlooking the Big River, the oak and hickory forest of the Washington State Park Hardwood Natural Area, and classic Missouri glades. If you’re looking for a Missouri hiking trail with multiple bluff views, Rockywood Trail is the hiking trail for you featuring 3 bluff views that are visible year-round.
Located about an hour south of St. Louis in Washington State Park, Rockywood Trail can easily be hiked as a St. Louis day hike. Washington State Park also features access to the Big River which serves as a launch point for classic Missouri float trips. Hikers can also visit the Native American Petroglyph Interpretive Site along the trail to view petroglyphs dating back to 1000 A.D.
As always Fall, Winter, and Spring are the best times to hike in Missouri, but Washington State Park has something to offer hikers all year long!

Great video. I last did this trail in the dead of winter with virtually no greenery except for a surprise bloom of watercress in the creek bottom about halfway through. It's great to see how it looks in summer.

thank you! I bet it's great in winter. TBH I prefer most Missouri hiking trails in late fall / winter. You just get to see more without the foliage

How were the ticks and chiggers on this hike?

I didn't have any ticks after the hike, but I did get destroyed by chiggers. To be fair I ran out of bug spray as I started the hike so my defenses were down so to speak.
