I’d be more interested in rules to turn competitive games into cooperative and/or solo games. Like Kill Team and Warcry. It’s a lot of fun to have my son and his friends team up and play against the xenos/chaos threat (me) in Kill Team and Warcry. But it would be great if we were all teamed up against a common enemy - maybe a boss fight scenario - where the bad guy was being run by the game.

Pulp Alley is not only my favorite skirmish game, it’s my favorite solo game as well. Although technically created to play old-fashioned pulp adventures, the rules work for literally ANY setting with zero modification! I’ve used it to play Star Wars, 40k, hardcore cyberpunk, vampire hunters, Cthulu, Ghostbusters, pirates, WWII, and Redwall based games and campaigns. Pulp Alley is a beauty of a system.

I'm just starting to get into Pulp Alley. I haven't figured out all the rules yet, but I'm working on it. I got their free downloads to check out the game because I didn't want to spend the money on the rulebook and then find out I wasn't so interested after all. That's the good part about the free downloads, they're not complete, but they give enough information to get a basic understanding of the game system.

Ranhgers of Shadow Deep is my favourite in solo gaming. I like it very much to think about and work on terrain pieces and other stuff for the scenarios - you always know you can play it because you don't need to search for people. Nevertheless I mostly play with others - but it's very motivating for my hobby to know that you have the option for solo if you want to.

I've just discovered your channel and I am on a search for solo games. I used to play Tunnels and Trolls way back in the early eighties (there, that dates me). As an advanced-in-age player who is still a beginner, you are talking my language! I don't want to get into the competitiveness and cliquey-ness of joining an already existing group. I would love to be able to play warhammer or old world warhammer games on my own. One beauty of it - as far as Games Workshop are concerned - I would need to buy, build and paint TWO armies! I lack the imagination to write my own rules, so what you are doing is brilliant. I'm going to be spending a lot of time catching up! Hmmmm...where do I start!

Solo is pretty much my entire current gaming outlet these days due to the remoteness of where I live. I will say, don't be scared to mix rulesets and scales for a grand campaign experience. I go from Fleet scale, to war scale (10mm), to Battle/Skirmish scale (28/32mm). Also, look outside of wargames to RPGs. There's a lot of cool supplements there to help you out as a solo, and some of the rulesets make great skirmish wargames with some pre game stat crunching (getting stats down to only what is needed for combat). Enemy combat AI, campaign creation tools, random lists for inspiration. There's all kinds of tools out there. Get playing!

@tabletopskirmishgames Жыл бұрын
You could definitely use Lego figures but if you want to follow the rules properly, you'll need to use the right base sizes. Lego as terrain will be perfect, especially for the Into the Dark style space hulk terrain and buildings. If you are looking for a GW game with rules that are a bit more fun and forgiving, I'd recommend Necromunda, that would be really fun with Lego.

Very interested in solo gaming both due to my '"advanced" age / lack of like minded, similar aged players and enjoying games that it seems no one living locally is interested in playing anymore (inc. Underworlds, X-wing and 40k / Kill team skirmish games - maybe I should have taken up MTG or Pokemon ?). The most important aspect for me is enjoyment and simplicity - no continual referring to rules, errata, stats etc. - so I basically make my own basic rules for movement and combat. No spells, no upgrades, no modifiers etc. - might be extremely boring for some (especially 40k players) but being able to get through a game in the time it could take to have a 40k "Army" take a single turn makes sense to me.

I have played mainly solo since I was a child... it's convenient and I usually win. Maybe I'm a little schizophrenic. In KT the biggest problem is having habitual style play and the tac ops are often not balanced so sometimes I just use the same 3 for both sides to even it out. I roll dice to randomize deployments (also use this method for Aeronautica Imperialis starting altitude and speed and Adeptus Titanicus)

Solo or Cooperative? The great thing about "solo" or cooperative games, especially in a family setting, is that you play and work together. The "Game" kills your precious 12 year olds favorite character not Mom. The benefit then is that a co-op, players vs game also becomes player vs game. Also means a game master / game leader can practice before teaching and playing with others.

There are 3 places in our life. Home, work and where we meet people and be entertained. Third place has been monopolized and monetized by social media. And as people grow up, they cannot meet so regularly. So solo games are a great way to spend time and be entertained. If you play solo videogames or surf internet for hours nobody calls you a loner, Why should it be like that with board games? Social media is the worst thing since the invention of nuclear devices. Board games are freedom. You only need a table and a number of people. No people? Solo games are the answer.
