Over Night at the off grid cabin, finish my wood shed and filled it with wood, black bears around the moose carcass near the cabin, moose on the trail cams and catching some nice brook trout for lunch

Great Saturday afternoon video for a Ottawa Valley lad to watch. Thanks for taking the time to share with us! With all the bears around your camp I am hoping that the bear proofing you have is enough to keep them out of your camp.

Another good video... A better, stronger, easier, quicker knot than the clinch knot is the Palomar Knot... I started using it over the clinch knot more than 20 years ago, haven't tied a clinch knot since. (I fish almost every day so that's a lot of knots) lol Great for tying in the cold ice fishing and it's a dream come true after our eyes get a bit older lol. Take care

It’s so nice to see another old fart like me out there, and doing stuff is old farts dream of. Lovely little trip. You obviously (at 20C) were not getting the 30C temperatures that we were getting here in central, it was the worst and the little black flies were just aweful, Its been like that for about 2+ weeks except for today its about 15 C (closer to my comfort zone of fall temperatures).

Love you ytube show. I know that there are many dusplaced Newfoundlanders that hang on to every word!! I tell all that I know about your show. Love it. Just wondering though. I see that you take water from streams, brooks and ponds. Do you worry about Beaver Fever( giardia). I know several people here in NL suffering from it because of impropered boiled water from ponds especially. Maybe good to mention about the 3 minute roiling boil...(retired nurse here.)
@thenewfoundlandoutsider6354 Жыл бұрын
No i don't worry about beaver fever i think those of us born and raised of the land as a tuff tolerance to eating and drinking from nature of which alot of city people wouldn't handle as well I've seen it a hundred times just my observation

The reason they curl, is because they haven't had a chance to go through Riggermoretes , once they go through it, they won't curl. Just let them sit for over 12 hours before cook, plus the will have better flavor.. Another small tip: cut the gills and let them bleed, they taste much better.
