I grew up in central Texas and Summer meant living on the lake shore with a tarp above, a driftwood campfire, and an army surplus cot for my bed (no sleeping bag, after all, this was Texas in the summer). I now live in Maine, am 72, almost completely crippled by arthritis; until recently I believed I only had my memories of camping and communing with nature as my actual camping days were behind me. But KZbin and videos such as this allow me to vicariously enjoy adventures once more. Thanks Corporal!

I'm living in the swamp wilderness of Florida, homeless from Michigan since last July and it's an inspiration to try different things while out here. At 65 years old I could feel sorry for myself but instead I know I'm doing what a lot of people wish they could do lol boondocking, rat hole money and buy some property, the corporal would be welcome to practice in my woods.

I know this is an old video Corporal but I always go back to watch what I found interesting. I think this might be one of my favourite videos that you've put up yet. I don't have a lot of clay here but I did the same concept in the woods and it really did work as good as you said it did on your video. I've been in much worse shelters than this in my life. I love your work I used to be a scoutmaster and I thought all these survival skills to my boys sad to say now I am in a wheelchair and paralyzed from The waist down even though I still enjoy camping I can’t do this kind of camping anymore I enjoy seeing what you do I watch your channel almost every day Corporal you are a great inspiration to others keep up the good work. I was just one Number away from being a marine when I was drafted what is the biggest wall the ones for me to do marines I don’t regret my decision to volunteer for the draft but I think it would’ve rather been Marine from the waist down

Constructive feedback. As a Marine myself, I like your videos, but not your personality. Why do you have to be so defensive when someone makes a comment? You keep saying, "I'm nothing without you": yet, you talk down to your viewers in the comments. If you can clean that part of your show up - you'll do even much better. @@peteg22397 Good info. I was not aware he used to be happy all the time. I'm a new viewer, therefore, for me, I would not have known the difference. I think if he stops being negative/defensive in his videos and comments, again, he will grow FASTER. He has great content. Personally, I think one of the best. If not, the best. It's just his negative/defensive comments that turn me off. I pointed something out once while complimenting him and his reply was that I must not know what I'm doing. haha I'm a Marine. An Outdoorsman. I do know what I'm doing. Here's the thing, It may not be the way, but it's a way. He needs to learn everyone does things differently and not to take it personally. In the cloud of his negativity, he's missing the compliments we are giving him because he solely focused on what he deems hating. Dude's got great content. Just needs to stop letting the haters get to him. Oh well, I'll keep watching until I can't anymore!

That Dakota fire pit method for the fort is genius. I have no doubt a contraption like that could keep the shelter toasty for a solid 6+ hours of sleep if packed right. No waking up every 3 hours to replenish a normal campfire.

Could you imagine how smart our citizens would be if this type of education was mandatory in out school systems? I'm not sure if anyone has told you this yet nor am I trying to be overly dramatic, but what you're teaching people is not only ensuring they have basic survival skills if things go bad, but it's also changing peoples lives for the better. Best shelter I've seen built in any forest, to make it even stronger you could have played the entire walls of the shelter, clay right on the wood outside and real seal out any drafts and leave the roof alone because it was perfect, love the door too, many bushcrafters leave their shelters without a door, makes no sense not to ha e a door in the wild, but you have more common sense like me than most, I salute you sir, keep up the good work and posting great videos.

This how my forefather and his family lived when they came to what is now Massachusetts in 1632. What an amazing way to live. However, they did not have markets to go to for food but they farmed the land and lived well into their 80's.

I think you have reviewed both saws, but I am not sure which one you like better; the Silky (Pocketboy? Gomboy?) or the Bahco Laplander? I am going to buy a better saw and want your thoughts. Current saw is a Fiskars.

I built a underground fireplace that was 5 ft deep set on a bed of rocks then I dragged a hood from a small car that was laying out in the desert and used it for a back stop to reflect the heat. I was afraid to put it all in my canvas tent but now if I have to do over I think I would try it

I really enjoy your videos! Would love to see you make a trip to the Canadian Pacific Northwest. (British Columbia) Different terrain and weather. We could learn from you and you could learn from us! There are basics and then, as you have previously stated, there are area specific skill sets that are required for adaptability. Our province has been devastated all over by massive floods and fire seasons. Survival skills and bushcraft need to be in the forefront of peoples minds. So many have been displaced,that it would be imperative for folks to learn in context with their surrounding habitat. It would be a great adventure.
