Who needs a yacht? This man showed us a tour of his cockpit, galley, and owner’s cabin with full sized bed! All on a 14 foot inflatable! Seriously showed how much you can do, and that cauldron thermos is great.

Chris, great adventure! You prepared well for your excursion. I've done something similiar boating solo the Apostle islands on Lake Superior. Half the fun was preparing well w equipment and emergency plans like you did. There are 22 islands with beautiful sand stone rock formations and most are within 2-3 miles of each other. I did it with a Saturn inflatable 14 ft. kaboat w a 3.5 hp Merc outboard, and traveled about 42 mi. I didn't camp in the boat. The islands are a National Park, and had designated campgrounds. I tent camped on two islands, and visited 2 others over 3 days. The islands do have large black bear populations, but had no problem. The weather was fine. Coming home though, I had to go through a 1.5 mile strait w 4 - 5 ft. waves. Once passed there were calm waters to the dock. It toke some navigation savvy but I did ok. Solo marine trips are great, just that you have to be organized and cover all the bases when planning.

I have this tent. But it's not fully rain proof. Water soaks into the black porous fabric around the windows and drips through. Leaks at the seams. Leaks at opening where it connects to the bimini frame. Leaks through the zippers. Great for shade and wind though on a sunny day. Works ok for light rain perhaps. Very light rain only.

Hi Atreu, You are so right on this, if you see my video on storm camping on the beach I used a land based tent - had I been in the boat with this cover - I would have been in a precarious situation. Definitely the Aleko cover is not meant for heavy rainstorms. Agreed Thanks for watching!

Nice video. What pitch did you go with to maintain the max rpm of 5,400-6,100? I know that these boats are not intended for speed but with the correct pitch prop what top speeds are you seeing and is the Bris 14.1 stable?
@ChristopherQuest Жыл бұрын
Hello Beach, On this video I have a Merc 9.9 which originally came with a 8.5 pitch - I got about ~5000 when the boat was loaded. I switched to a 7.0 and got ~6000 rpm and she would top out about 18mph and cruise around 15mph, not bad for this engine and boat. Love that engine. Thanks for watching!

Did you have any issues installing with the Aleko canopy on the Bris boat? Do you think it would fit on a Saturn Inflatable boat?
@ChristopherQuest Жыл бұрын
Hello, it was relatively easy once it was dry fitted over the top to see where I needed to mount the supports. The bris has a heavy lip that I was able to drill and use to hold the supports. Not sure about Saturn. Good luck! Thanks for watching !

You ever try to travel with everything set up and zipped up? How is it and what’s the speed difference like if so
@ChristopherQuest2 жыл бұрын
I have and check my previous videos as I have a short clip in there - I think when going to Fort McRee. I did not go really fast but it seems to work great as slow speeds anyway. Thanks for watching!

Could you list your equipment, or at least the brand of that nifty thermos heater device?
@ChristopherQuest3 жыл бұрын
Hello, It's a Cauldryn Coffee Cup available on Amazon - maybe walmart, they are over $100 so you need to use it a lot! see the accessories too. I should create a list, I will work on that, good idea. Thanks for watching! - just looking for a link and i don't see it on amazon right now - i would check other options. Thanks

Hey Christopher, that’s a sweet setup ! I have a 10 foot inflatable and an Aleko weather cover like yours but nothing to attach the V supports to. What does your Vsupports attach to? Thank you
@ChristopherQuest Жыл бұрын
Hello Robert, I tried to attach a photo, no luck. The boat has a strip of double thick pvc material that runs around the top edge of the boat and hold the safety rope. I simply looked when I nneded the connection and drilled a hole in this flap of material, it has held up extremely well now for a couple years. Next video I have the 14.1, I'll show the hookup. Thanks for watching!

also, on my homepage you can kinda see it if you zoom in..

@@ChristopherQuest ok cool, thank you so much! My boat doesn’t have that strip so I’ll be glueing something on it.

That is pretty cool. You have thought of just about everything. Was it just a one night experiment or something that you see as viable for continued camping? I would love to see a video of your breakdown of the boat for storage. I like the idea of an inflatable for minimum garage storage requirements.
@ChristopherQuest3 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, I am planning a multiple night trip to use the boat and a land based tent possibly. I will keep a breakdown video in mind, but do not plan to take it apart till the end of this next season. Thanks for watching!

Hey Chris just one question, what brand of boat do you have?
@ChristopherQuest2 жыл бұрын
Hi Carlos, It is a Bris 14.1 - I ordered through Amazon. Thanks again for watching!

Hi I was thinking about getting one like you got and try to put it on my jon boat it says 6feet x 5feet is that 5 feet where the poles connect to your boat.
@ChristopherQuest2 жыл бұрын
Hello Raymond, My boat measures about 4' 10" where I hook up the poles, so 5' should work fine for width. Thanks for watching! The cover is a fun addition for sure.

Do you have an Amazon affiliate account setup? I am getting ready to purchase a Bris 14.1 and will be purchasing the tent you showed shortly, if possible would like to see you make something from it as your videos show the boat in action!

How to use restroom?
@ChristopherQuest2 жыл бұрын
Hello Harry, Good question. I have a dry system that requires a 5 gallon bucket - under the seat. Special bags (double doodle), a split foam noodle to hold the bag in place and provide some cushion. The bags are double lined and also double zip locked. Thanks for watching!

What size is the aleko canopy?
@ChristopherQuest Жыл бұрын
Hello, It is listed at 13.8'. I don't see them on amazon right now. You may be able to find at another on-line store. It fits pretty good. Aleko sells their own boats that they are actully made to fit. Thanks and Thanks for watching!

@@ChristopherQuest, thank you for writing back! I will surely check that other video (right after finishing typing this). I was worried the tent did not cover the rear of the boat (because of the motor) - that would allow water to drip inside the boat.
@ChristopherQuest Жыл бұрын
@@hntrains2 It will cover it. The aleko cover will tend to let water pool on the top as it is not supported in the center, so not the best for heavy rain. Thanks!

How does that setup do with moisture? Very nice video, thanks
@ChristopherQuest3 жыл бұрын
Hello gerard, the top It is not the greatest in the rain, but because it hangs to the side of the boat leaks tend to run down the sides. Not intended for serious rain. I would throw a Rain Fly of some type on top and watch for pooling water. Thanks for watching!

Can you run the boat with the tent up?
