One thing that’ll help with chicken is cut it into filets that are similar thickness. It’ll cook evenly so you don’t have over cooked sides and a undercooked center 👍🏻

zip lock bag-flat end of a meat mallet. perfect for camping too-nice flat chicken breast
@nomadthetraveler5782 Жыл бұрын
By making evenly thin slices of the chicken meat... it will cook faster and evenly. If you start it on a little higher heat... you can sear, (brown or crisp) the outside and then turn the heat back down to normal cooking heat to finish it off. (Personally, I prefer thighs. It's not as dry as breasts.) Yes, seasoning your meat even before you put it into the pan or on the grill to cook it. Like with a marinade... it gives the flavors of the spices and other ingredients to soak into the meat, or even vegetables, even before you put it on to cook. You don't want to cook without your spices and/or lubricants are properly added. It's much more flavorful than just bland or even bad tasting cooking without using spices and flavors added in before cooking.

Thin chicken cooks really quick.
@nomadthetraveler5782 Жыл бұрын
@uptone12111 Even the flat end of the mallet damages the plastic baggie. It leaks in both directions... in and out. The food should be put into a new baggie after hammering it. The ABSOLUTELY IMPORTANT concept most people seem to miss is... As you seal the zip lock... carefully squeeze as much air out of the baggie just before completely sealing the zip lock. Not removing that air, and then repeating each time it's opened, is the same as NOT even putting the food in the baggie. The food is essentially not getting the benefits of being sealed properly in the baggie. So, the food naturally dries out and turns bad so much faster than it would if properly sealing the bag each time.

I've solo camped with a survival shelter exactly one time, and a giant desert centipede (around 8 inches long, over an inch thick) tried crawling past my face into my sleeping bag. I did not sleep well the night before because I was close to a creek where all the animals came down to drink at night, and I was terrified that something large would pay me a visit on the way. So, while I admire survivalists and technically know how to survive the elements with some rope and a tarp, I need a tent at a minimum to avoid giant crunchy bugs.

When cooking chicken, yes, season it while cooking. It would help it to cook if you had a lid or make a foil lid. You can also tell if your chicken is if you have a food thermometer. Cook until it reads 180 for chicken. I love my thermometer. Good luck and sorry about your Oops with your chicken. ❤

Blue's expressions are priceless! I think that chicken wasn't dead yet because it kept jumpin' off the plate. Once I was hauling horses by myself from So Cal to the north. It was late and I was tired so I parked the rig to the side of the road, crawled under and laid down between the front two wheels with my Queensland Healer dog and slept until daylight. I was worried someone would see me sleeping in the cab and try something. Oh did I mention I was armed with protection and my dog, Paddywack, on high alert. Peaceful night and a happy ending. I never saw any bugs that time.

I’m rewatching this back so forgive me with the lateness of how to cook chicken 😄 I always defrost for a while, then when it’s soft i cut into 4 thinner slices. You can just put them back on top of each other when it’s done. That way the chicken cooks the inside faster. Cook for about 40 minutes turning it over regularly. Try it on a toasted whole meal bun with lettuce, grated cheese, flavoured sauce and garlic pepper. It’s amazing trust me. Love your channel by the way 😊👍

OR toss in some day old, refrigerated/leftover rice with peas, carrots, garlic or whatever you want and make a quick fried rice!

season the chicken before you put it in the pan.also cut it long ways in half. it will cook faster and you will be less likely for it to be raw. also, also, a little butter will go a lot way with color and flavor. :)

Invest in a meat pounder and pound the breast to a thinner even thickness. Cooks faster and evenly. If you have time and supplies, put a quarter cup of salt in about four cups of water and dissolve salt. Put brine solution in bowl or big bag and add chicken and let sit in fridge for at least an hour. Rinse, pat dry and season before cooking. Really helps with having moist chicken.
