Solo Sailing Dana Point to Newport Beach: Marina Park, Minney's Yacht Surplus, Wedge, Big Corona.

This week, we sail from our home port of Dana Point to Newport Beach, California. We picked up a guest slip for a couple of nights at Marina Park. After getting new boat supplies at Minney's Yacht Surplus, I explore the legendary surf spot, The Wedge, at the south end of the Newport Peninsula.
I point out a botanical battle at the sand dunes between the invasive Iceplant and native sand dune species, Pink sand verbena (Abronia umbellata) and beach evening primrose (Camissoniopsis cheiranthifolia).
After grabbing burgers from one of our favorite burger joints, TK Burgers, we anchor on a lunch hook at Big Corona, in Corona Del Mar, CA, before heading home to Dana Point, CA.

I am a new subscriber and am really enjoying your videos. I am 64 years old and live in North Dakota. However, I was born and raised in Newport Beach and remember camping in Dana Point on the beach as a kid. Spent so many days at the Wedge and all around the NB pier. I love birdwatching, sailing videos and gardening and learning about my environment. A bit spooky how KZbin can show me such relevant vids, but I am grateful. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you, Benjamjn. You’re input is worth it's weight in gold. Thank you. I ended up going back and got 60ft of 5/16 HT chain. I've anchored a few times on it now on overnights to Catalina and very happy with it.

Its a pleasant enough video. Putting that beautiful gaff schooner as the thumbnail and then burying a 1 second clip of it is click baiting. Especially considering the majority of the video is of you as an in frame commentator. Your local knowledge and informative coverage of environmental issues would surely get you an audience without resorting to deceptive thumbnails.
