I purchased the Titan last year and could not be happier! I went without power in 2017 for almost 3 weeks here in Southwest Florida with Hurricane Irma. It was very difficult to even get charcoal during that time, much less any supplies. I have wood processed and ready to go at all times now. Thanks for the review and hope you enjoy yours as well.

Glad to hear you are happy with yours. They are really great stoves. I can relate regarding hurricanes, when Hurricane Florence hit here in 2018 we were without power for 7 days. I did not have a Solo Stove then, but it would have been nice to have had one on hand if needed. Can't beat the free fuel! ;-)

The recommended way is to lay an "upside down fire" with larger chunks of wood in the bottom and smaller twigs on top. If you carry some dry tinder and add that with a fire starter (cotton ball and petroleum jelly) on top it will burn downwards. That gives a slower burn. Once established add larger pieces of wood instead of very small twigs and the burn will last longer and give you more control over your cooking temperature. Nice video.....

Good review! I used to live in Hubert for a number of years, so not far from your area. Love the Solo stoves. I've got the Bonfire and the Lite. I'm thinking about this one as the Lite eats like a starving teenager and uses really small media. This one looks like it eats a bit too but you can use bigger media. Eh, we use these because we like fire right? A certain amount of tending is expected....thanks for putting this together!

I get up around Bear Island/Hammocks Beach, Swansboro and Emerald Isle quite a bit. Yes, they do require tending, but not a problem if you have dry fuel, which as you know is plentiful around these parts. Having used both the Titan and Lite, I definitely prefer the Titan.

It looks like it generates much more smoke than they said, it's meant to recycle the smoke in the cavity wall.

Loved the review! I have several Solo stoves myself. What type of sling pack is that you're using? I've been looking for a decent day pack like that. Thanks!!

Same as me, I used only Jetboil before what is fantastic. Tried Trangia with pot support to boil water and fry lunch. Trangia is not easy to get it going, you have to be careful, have to prime it. I liked the feeling of natural flame and bought Solo Titan to try on motorcycle camping. Would not take Titan on hiking trips, would go with Jetboil. If I’m tired don’t want to struggle trying to start Titan and look for logs. Never used it yet though.

I have a Jetboil as well and it's a great unit especially if you need to get some water boiling with less fuss.

@@TopsailOutdoorAdventures tried first time today Titan. Boiled cup of tea in 7 min. Did also frying egg and meat. It’s good fuel is free regardless how long you cook, But to get it started you need some skills :) especially if forest is wet. Will need some firestarters as a backup. Thanks for a quality video!

How are you cleaning that soot off? No matter how much I scrub or what I use, the pans always still smell like that really intense chemical soot smell, it makes everything in my pack smell like that

Bartenders Friend and elbow grease will do it. That said, a lot of my cookware remains blackened. I keep my stuff in a nylon ditty bag which helps, and I also try to use hardwood fuel. Sometimes certain softwood can smell stronger than other wood.
