@user-rk5jb2tp5b I'm not planning on carrying it all. I got two bags, and I'm going to stash one bag and come back for it when needed. I also got a heavy-duty coat with 6 big pockets and a fishing vest that I modified to put all the small stuff in. I also have a heavy-duty hard leather bag for gathering wood. I forgot to mention some bandannas and my Australian bush kettle and my varmint gun and pistol. I plan on stashing a lot of the heavy stuff (.for long-term camp and one of the bags in a very good location. I will come back for it as needed. I planned on going heavy on fishing tackle and traps. Those items, I will come back for. I probably take a few hooks and sinkers and line. Yes cooking oil and vitamins and protien powder I agree.

I live rural, in the mountains. When my wife died 6 years ago I spent most of the next 2 years alone with just my cats. I went grocery shopping once a week, but never talked to anybody. No, it wasn't a survival situation, but it was solitude...........I talked to myself all day long and realized that I was beginning to getting stranger as time went by..........I finally took a part time job just to have human contact again.....I was slowly losing it.

I worked for two seasons as a Wilderness Ranger for the Forest Service after I got out of the Marines in the 70's. Both seasons I had extended periods of time where I never saw anyone on the trail. I also in the first season foraged for food because I forgot to toss my food supply into my pack. I did have about a cup of oatmeal that helped but I had to look for roots and berries. Luckily my tour in the Wilderness area was only 10 days to two weeks before I came down for days off. Couldn't hunt for meat as that was against Forest Service rules. The next year I got sick the second day into one of my tours from what I suspect was Giardia . I was down for the rest of the time about 20 miles from a road and it was raining nearly non-stop for most of that time. The whole season of 1978 I saw 8 people. Two that I spoke to and 6 in one group across a canyon miles away. When you run out of food and have to forage or trap the slightest mistake or injury can put you at death's door very easily when you're on your own. Living in a S. W. Idaho town with the neighbors I have, mostly older we have cops, combat veterans, wives that can garden and can, husbands that can build and fix anything and living in a free state we have the means to make bad guys regret their life choices to the point they will move elsewhere.

There's a reason why most participants on the popular survival show " ALONE " end up quitting , being medically evacuated , or are practically completely emaciated by the end of the competition it's because we're not meant to live completely alone without community , outside resources , or love and companionship of family and friends ; also man cannot live on bread alone but by every word and breath of GOD . Your good friend Alan Kay could probably attest to some of that .

Had a mini event a year ago ( like the movie 127 hours) middle of nowhere in a overturned vehicle in freezing rain and snow with high winds in 27 degree weather and stayed there 60 hours sitting on my wheel well waiting for the weather to break. Finally had to walk out of the Utah desert, happened to find 2 people on vacation 5 miles away.(25 from home) I was lucky but not my first time being out there ( trips) 1976 hitchhiking twice across country from NYC to LA as a teen, and after I retired 2019 left my friends house in the Detroit area and rode 1500 miles on a bicycle with a trailer behind it, central Nebraska then down to Kansas before hitting snow. Oh my primary job was a truck driver who survived-35 weather with no heat unless I stopped driving. Or no AC in Arizona summers. Anyone know where Texas canyon is in Arizona, climbed to the top (full of rattlesnakes) now I have enough supplies waiting on a friend to retire who is on his 5th deployment in the Med… If you’re going to island, bring some chickens to raise.

I've been forced into solitude for so long and I hate it. That's why I had to force myself out into a few social trips a year. The need for human interaction is very real. I recently spent 4 days at a practical homesteading class where I was the only person other than the gentleman teaching it. Even that was a learning experience because outside the class hours I was all alone and had to figure out a lot of the things that I use to have a guy for. I had an awesome (although somewhat frustrating) time. The peace and serenity was amazing.

I missed the survey but I’d opt for the last two . The last one only if my immediate family were gone . Wouldn’t be anything left strong enough to tie me to mainstream life . On a different note , if you slid / shuffle your feet in the surf / mud flats , it normally kicks the rays and flounder up . Southern Louisiana is a great spot . Sportsman’s paradise. Bayous dumping into brackish water. Probably almost as many hogs as we have across the Sabine in Texas . Good video. Have a good one

I go backpacking on the Appalachian Trail every year for about 3 weeks. Once you do the first 100 miles, the rest of trail is doing the same thing, twenty more times. You can carry everything you need in a backpack but try to keep pack weight down to 30 pounds, anymore just weighs you down. I carry 5 days of food (7 lbs), 3 lbs water + sawyer filter, resupply at towns along trail.

I’ve spent about 8-9 months in the woods/abandoned 1800’s house/falling down structure miles from any people. A couple big ponds were near so I ate fish, rabbit and squirrel. Wasn’t ever hungry enough to eat frog. Here’s something to think about, how are you going to take a bath? I tried to take a bath one time by heating up small pots of water and I had multiple pots but your water will not ever heat up in the winter when you’re heating a gallon or two of water at a time.

I've lived in a camper through freezing winter and the water would freeze often. I kept a 5 gal bucket with water to bath with. I would fill a medium sauce pan with water and get that to a boil then add that to a bigger pot with some cold water. Then just use a washcloth or sponge.

I have been stuck in the desert in a recovery vehicle due to a broken road wheel. We did not have a spare 😂 so myself and three other people were stranded for about seven days, conserving our MRE'S and my personal camel back. It was pretty hot but we stayed out of the sun and prepped the track for a replacement roadwheel when we got news of parts coming in.

Tropical island would be interesting. Bring a volley ball named Wilson. Forest close to seashore (Norcal, Oregon, Washington) might be the most survivable. Someone young and agile would have the best chance. Too old to carry enough gear and supplies to survive more than a few days. Would have to have permanent shelter and gear stocked up. Bolt action 22lr would be more useable and lighter. Standard velocity ammo to keep the noise down. 22lr/410 would be a good combo gun. Savage 24 or Chiappa Double Badger. 5 pellet 000 buck makes a good defense load. Archery might be a good option. Recurve not compound. I have a light crossbow that would work.

Great video! Really love the thought experiments. I find it funny however when people simply say "Alaska" as if its all the same. That's saying South America. There are tropical jungles, temperate rain forests, deserts, savannas, etc... Alaska has many climatic regions and survival equipment in one would have you dead in days in another region. And don't forget about seasons. Fairbanks has the second most temperature swings in the world; 90 degrees in the summer and -60 degrees in the winter. Gear needed outside of Tok would have you dead in two days on Etolin Island.

The longest I've spent in the wilderness without talking to another human is a couple of weeks. I've no need to tell you this, there's a change in you after about three days, your senses change and you sort of acclimatise. This makes being alone easier but not easy. TBH i missed a hot shower, laundered clothes and the like more than people and found the noise of the town overwhelming for a couple of days after I got back.

Something about a tropical island you forgot to mention is the possibility of getting ripped to shreds from coral. I spent loads of time in the rocky mountains as well as living on an island, not Hawaii. I'll take the mountains simply because of the difference in humidity and heat. We had a hay barn when I was a child that had a tin roof. I'd run out of the house when it rained and lay on the hay. I was always a hyper child but put me in a hey barn with a tin roof, and I could be still. I'd live in the mountains. I'd definitely have to have super warm clothes and the ability to make a warm place to sleep. I'd love to be in the mountains around Colorado or Utah. We always took hikes there every year and stayed a couple weeks. I was with my husband. We use to tell each other that not having someone to share the experience almost doesnt make it real. How do you describe it and make someone feel the way you felt about that experience? You can't.

Alexander Selkirk was marooned on a tropic island for 4 years in the early 18th century ( his experience was the inspiration for "Robinson Crusoe" ). He did much better once he moved to the interior of the island and away from the beaches. I would rather not have to live right on the shore, too exposed to storms rain and wind and aside from fishing too few resources. Inland is the place to be.

Rucksack + on body carry gear is going to be around 50kg to 60kg (up to 125lb+).. and you must be in great shape to pull out off.. assuming that you have the soft skills and mindset to go along with it.

Without the aid of a packhorse or even an ATV with a trailer, it world almost be impossible.. you need too much stuff.. TOOLS are heavy (digging, plowing, cutting), quality firearm and ammo would easily top 20 pounds.. weigh 100 rounds of 12 guage ammo.. 00 buck pushes 12 pounds for 100 rounds..A high quality tarp is extremely heavy a think billboard vinyl that’ll last for many years - 20-30 pounds, pans, seeds, etc… you’d easily be into 100 pounds or more quickly.. Reality - I said I would make it a long time.. based on the fact that I’d takeover a shelter that’s already in place and use tools already at the locations. WROL would be in effect, sooo, trespassing wouldn’t be a thing. And no, not pushing violence on anyone to attain it. I know my area and I know what’s available.. bending the rules? Maybe.. but life is hard had rules are for ROL situations.. I’m retired Army - done the things- also college educated- and a life long hunter, camper, trapper, fisher, etc.. Even with all that, Jason you are 100% correct, living for the sake of surviving wouldn’t be very rewarding.. 😢

The idea of surviving in a far away remote location alone, lower down on the food chain, with limited skills and items would be near impossible for a lot of people. Most wouldn’t survive 6 mos let alone a year. People don’t know the technology or the skills that people had to know in the 1700s to survive and to thrive. Nor is the numbers of fish and wildlife what it was like in the 1700s as well. And both native and non native people needed both community and trade. Modern made is I’ll prepared and highly dependent.

There's a lag between what's reported in KZbin Studio for creators and public numbers. As of typing this our video from yesterday has 823 likes. The day before has 769 likes. The day before that has 2,400 likes.

Jason back in 2015 or 2016 A friend showed me a video on KZbin this supposed to be a survivalist well let's Just say the video starts off with him walking out into a clearing in the woods this supposed to be survivalist wS wearing a back pack that had a full combat set up! He also looked like he weighed 265 to 325 pounds his backpack looks like it is just as wide as he was. He was huffing and puffing When he walked the 15 to 25 out of the woodbine into the clearing he starts pulling stuff out of his backpack and is telling everyone that they need all of this gear just to survive 3 days in the woods he had 2 bedrolls plus 2 sleeping bags strapped to the backpack you would have to watch the video and see for yourself everything he had!!

Dude I always say ninety percent of people will die when things get ugly. Not saying I’m not one but what I do know is without family I wouldn’t want to live. The one thing I have found out about living is the ones that want to go keep living die and the ones that don’t care keep surviving. At the end of the day what will really happen will shock everybody for what’s to come.👍🏼🍻🥃👊🏼💯

Whats stopping me, is that its Illegal in most states to set up a permanent shelter, so I would have to be nomadic. There are also fishing liscenses & small game & hunting liscenses needed unless you want a poaching charge & your gear confiscated. Sure, in some state you could hide, but you could never get caught, thats kind of hard in a national forest.... BUT, if there was a place I could live, fish & hunt for free - tell me where that is, lol....

it's all about testosterone... we just want to prove ourselves, to ourselves... and it's as stupid as it sounds!... The world is a wonderful place, just because we're in it!... and when we realize that, we'll ease up a bit and smell a flower next to us... don't get me wrong, I've proven myself to myself pretty much... and plenty!... but as I smoke my pipe, drinking my coffee I know... I'll eat whoever tries to stop me from enjoying that... I won't run...!

You sound too needy as if you absolutely must have other people to lean on. Maybe it is just me however my girlfriend and others have stated many times the government could kidnap and drop me in the middle of nowhere and I will be just fine. They are probably correct. As a rule I try not to be around other people however I like your videos.
