My good friend Oregonmike came up with the idea to fill a box with mystery items and send it to me. My objective was to take the box into the woods and open it up on camera, and build a shelter and spend the night in the woods with the unknown contents of the box and see what uses I can find for the items. It was a lot of fun and It would be fun for you the survival community to get with your friends and see if they would like for you to send them a package and film the adventure that pursues. Oregonmike is one of the coolest guys on youtube. Please visit his channel. www.youtube.com...

Now that sounds like some really good survival training. To me, getting lost with gear is no big deal. Losing a backpack could get serious. Breaking one leg or having use of one arm is very serious. I think eveyone would benefit from practicing camping that way. Im glad you liked the video, everyone I talk to here on youtube seems just like old friends to me too. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching my friend.

Thanks War, I have been told hundreds of times in the past that kids hit a certain age and they want nothing to do with their parents. Nick is only 14 and I can kinda sense him wanting to do his own thing. He has spent plenty of good times in the woods with me so if it slacks up a little bit for a few years I guess I can handle it. I love being able to put on video all the fun and nutty things I do in the woods for fun. I hope it makes others want to do the same. Thanks for watching my friend.

Mike tried to pack a box that would make an entertaining video, thats what its all about. I dont know about you not making videos as good, I bet you can. The more you make, the more you notice what works and what doesnt work. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching my friend.

OK, about 1/4 into this I found out that "Mike" supplied way too much stuff for this Georgia southern reared country boy. Really, the knife he brought was very large! (machete not needed). Now into the 1/3 to 1/2 of this I know this is true. SPAM, rope, plastic, water, knife of my choice, stove, COFFEE, and RICE! Come on, this should have been a 2 day challenge at least for this guy. I think reallybigmonkee1 did a great job... although I would have done this for the ruck sack alone... would like to know where this came from, really nice. Nick... very nice job, always enjoy you guys videos and will check out Mike's. BTW, I butcher the English language a lot, but then i love to.

@Loraxtribe I thought this was a great idea of oregonmikes, especially the part of come up with as many uses for the items as possible. That gave me good ammo for a video. This wasnt really that much of a test of making it or not, more of a test of skills to see how much thinking and improvising I could do. I'm glad you liked it, stay tuned for more nutty behavior, ha ha. Thanks for watching my friend.

Well, as far as easy, I can go out in the woods with nothing and sleep on the ground and walk out the next day. Yes I'll be alive and yes, hungry thirty and probably covered in bug bites but that would be a boring video now wouldnt it? The idea behind the box is to find as many uses for the items in the box. Im telling ya, outright survival with very little, is not much fun at my age, ha ha. Thanks for watching my friend.

It probably would be better to make them lower but some of the times you have to work with the first V branch that forks off the side of the tree. cool, all you need is someone to send or hand you a box of unrelated items to try and make it with. The cool part is that you have to find uses for all the items, not just survive. Anyone can just go lay down on the ground, sleep, then walk out alive. Making uses for stuff is outright fun. Thanks for watching my friend.

Well, I mostly go on private land, thats why I can get away with all the chopping, cutting and campfires. If you have no access to it, youll have to go tent or hammock camping.I go to a lot of places that no one else is willing to go like swamps and wetlands.I never bump into anyone and I can pretty much do whatever I want and no one even knows it.Swamps are not for everyone tho, stick to campgrounds until you find private land.I'll do the groments in an upcoming vid. Thanks for watching my friend

The bed wasnt bad at all. It did get kinda cold. It took alot of feeding small sticks to get the water to a boil but it did. Heres the rule of thumb I go by. If the water has no particles or sediment, bring it to a boil. If the water looks dirty or has sediment, boil for 5 minutes. All the little particles floating in that water contains pathogens that one minute of boiling wont reach it and kill it. 5 minutes should reach and kill all the pathogens present. Thanks for watching my friend.

Thanks! Im glad you liked it. The idea was all credited to OregonMike. It was a very very fun trip for sure. It makes you start thinking instead of just knowing your own gear. Thanks for watching my friend.
