Solo Tarp Overnight Camp (Autumn Equinox)

Hi everyone,
I managed to get out into the woods for the Autumn Equinox, the day at this end of the year where we have the same hours of daylight as we do darkness, and the turning of a new season.
I've really got to enjoy sleeping under the tarp, as it doesn't restrict your connection to the landscape around you, unlike tent camping where you zip away the outside when you close up for the night.
I had another bash at my bushcraft wood-whittling skills on this trip making some tent pegs and feather sticks, along with cutting and battening firewood for the Bushbox stove (The tent pegs went well, still need work on the feather sticks!).
All in all it was a wonderfully relaxing outing, and I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I did whilst out amongst the trees.

Cheers Warren! I know you have to deal with the critters and bugs unlike when in a tent, but it's worth it for the view! Nice one James, I did my 1st Tarp camp 3 weeks ago with my dog🐕... It was a mild & non-damp night, watched the sun go down & then come back up again...!🌌🌄 Managed a couple of hours kip & also cooked a couple of burgers with some chilli cheese & red onion...😋 It was a nice experience but I still prefer the security, warmth & protection of a tent & must admit that I wasn't too keen on natures friends crawling around me, but at the same time I wasnt too bothered either...!😄 & fortunately no slugs...!🤣 Love a tin of Spam when camping, cold or cooked, bap or sandwich, chopped up into rice or pasta, the possibilities are endless...! All the best dude & look forward to ya next next adventure...✔️👊

I used to like red paint with most things back in the day... Tastes do change though, so I'm mainly a brown sauce person these days when it comes to spam/bacon... There's always a time and place for ketchup though, hence there's a big bottle of it in the fridge! Speak soon! 🙏 💚

Great camp James, loved the flame shots and am a fan of a dirty burger myself. How do you find that quilt, I have been eyeing it up myself for a while?I have only just started using meths in a morning but I so works. I enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing 👍.

Hi Neal! The food and the flames were just the ticket! 🤣 I'll have to say, the Flames Creed quilt has got to be one of my best purchases, it's warm enough for 3 season use (used it in - 4°c and was perfectly fine all night), and because you're not zipped up in it, it's great for summer as well, as you can self regulate easily by sticking your foot/arms out without having to fight to find the zip! It's light enough weight wise to not smother you, while at the same time it doesn't seem to slip off/move in the night. I'm a bit of an active sleeper (side sleeper but can never decide which side!) and it's stayed on top of me with no cold edges by the morning (while in a bag, I'd wake up with the zip underneath me and the hood over my face! 🤣). Cheers Darren! I've got the British Army bivvy, but I really don't get on well with it (I move a lot in my sleep, so I get tangled up in it and wake up multiple times in the night!).. Will keep trying though! Just picked a pair up from Decathlon up here on the Team valley and must admit they are cracking pair of trousers especially for the price I've got a pair of Montane terra trousers and these Decathlon trousers equally as good and they were less than half of the price 👍
