I like Fallout + both expansions as much as Mage Knight Ultimate for solo. I play with these house rules: 1. When multiple enemies stop on the same area, once per turn the weakest enemy on the area will be defeated (don't apply to faction enemies). 2. Enemies only follow you if you're 2 tiles away or closer, otherwise they will randomly move according to a d6 representing the sides of the map tile (don't apply to faction enemies). 3. Fast travel costs 1 cap per character and uses all of your actions, but you gain a free heal action. 4. If your character "dies" and you are alone on an area, you loose your fraction of the group's caps, all of your non-initial items (equipped or not), all temporary positive statuses and next round starts again on the same area you're in with 1 HP above your radiation. If another character was on the same area you "died", you keep the caps and the equipped items.

It’s great.

I have only played the base-game once, then instantly added Atomic Bonds (for all said and know reasons) and after 4 further plays also bought New California and had two further plays so far. I highly prefer solo games in which I can play with more than 1 characters to get the feeling I actually play coop. That's why only my very first play was true solo.

I houserule that the market deck isn't random so that there is at least one card of each type available. That way it's more fun.

We really struggled with the rule book as well. I agree that the expansions are mandatory and really make the game way better (having played without them. What a waste of time in comparison.) There’s a parallel universe in which FFG released LCG-like expansions with additional library (quest) content. It would have been amazing. Thanks for the rules summary sheet. 😊

Wow a card expansion with more quests sounds awesome!

This expansion model should be mandatory to all narrative games. Oltréé is kinda doing it (the quests are way more simple tho, just a single immediate event).

thanks for the video! sadly because of the tv series the expansion now cost most than college tuition! Btw that 3dprinted dice tower is purchased or you have made it yourself? you could share the stl if that's the case? or the link to thingiverse/printables
@Azure_Death6 ай бұрын
You're welcome! Here's the STL I used: www.thingiverse.com/thing:700507 I've had it for almost 10 years but I modified it back then to remove the dice 'stopper' wall at the end. I also added felt lining to muffle the noise, and place it on top of a white cardboard piece packaging to contain it.

@@Azure_Death thanks! There are so many remixes of the compact dice tower that it is hard to decide which one to print.

Thanks again for the great content. Our opinions overlap as TMB Undertow, Arkham LCG, and Marvel Champions are some of my favorite solo games. I was not crazy about JotL as I did not like running two charcters for that game. Learning Mage Knight intimidates me. I want to buy a Dungeon Crawler for solo, and have narrowed it down to Imeprial Assault, Shadows of Brimstone (both based on your reviews), Zombicide 2nd, Nemesis Lockdown, Bloodbourne, and Massive Darkness 2. My question is, I like to make meaningfull decisions and have a lot of agency. Which would you recommend? Shadows of Brimstone and IA don't seem to fit that criteria as it seems like just move, draw a random card, and chuck dice. Follower and Subscriber, David.

Hi! Thank you, glad you enjoy the content. I Looooove Imperial Assault so you should definitely get it at some point, but it doesn't scratch the itch or 'feels' like a dungeon crawler (to me). If you don't mind assembling the minis and controlling at least 2 chars (you technically can play it with 1 but it can be a bit difficult, at least until you level up and improve your char), I would %1000 recommend Shadows of Brimstone. I can't speak to the other ones you listed, I haven't played them.
