Hi guys! 26 miles later, I made it to one of the seven wonders of the world: MACHU PICCHU. Making it to all seven is a bucket list item...4 down, 3 to go. This is not my usual content or style of filming but wanted to share my fun solo travel adventure and hopefully encourage people who are afraid to travel alone to step out of their comfort zone and go see the world. I hope you enjoy it. Please don't forget to like, share & subscribe. As always, appreciate the continued support.
Tour Company I used: www.alpacaexpe...
Tips for success - Packing list (must fit in day pack and no more than 7kg for issued duffel bag)
Waterproof hiking shoes and flip flops/camp shoes (recommend crocs) for when you are done hiking for the day.
Outer layers (1 rain jacket, 1 light weight down jacket, 1 light weight fleece, 1 rain pants)
2 pairs of hiking pants, 2 long sleeve shirts, 2 short sleeve shirts
Bring thermal top and bottom and heavy-duty mountaineering socks to sleep x1
Bring merino wool socks (full cushion) x 4, underwear x 6, sports bras x4
Headlight, sunglasses, wide brim sun hat, neck scarf, cold weather hat
Heavy duty insect repellent, 50-70 spf sunscreen
Waterproof pouch for passport, cash and other valuables
25-28L day pack with water proof cover, 1.5-3L water bottle or water bladder
Small trash bags x 4 (to store dirty clothes and sleeping bag)
Waterproof gloves (a must)! I used hand warmers at night
high quality rain poncho
4-6 packets of tissue paper, small hand sanitizer
Small packet of baby wipes/body cleansing wipes
Sleeping bag rated for -18 degrees c (you can also rent one from the company)
Portable battery pack (recommend anker brand)
Bring cash 400-500 soles for tips at the end of the journey. Trust me the team will earn it! Also bring coins because you have to pay 1 soles for bathrooms on the hike
Snacks/energy bars, toiletries
Ibuprofen, pain killers for muscle aches, anti-diarrheal, anti-nausea meds, Diamox as needed
Tips for success - Hiking
Maintain a positive attitude always. No matter the conditions, your attitude makes so much of a difference.
4 day/3 night trail is tough. Mentally and physically prep to walk 26 miles mostly uphill, on uneven terrain. You will feel so accomplished once you are done! You got this.
Enjoy every moment. The views are incredible and breathtaking.
Bottom line up front is the best way to see Machu Picchu is through the Inca Trail.
Good Luck,
Angel
