Man I lost my place to live and had a few hours to pack. Outfitted a. JEEP CHEROKEE lived in it for 2 1/2 years. I had food, lived at beaches in San Diego and coastal. I got a membership at ymca n swam everyday! Some nights hard. Couch surfed. Was wild. Now I have apt, steady job working 3 days a week. I miss my Jeep life.

Really nice setup. I’ve been a “lurker” too 😁. I’ve been watching van life, nomad videos for as long as i can remember. Easily 15 yrs. In the last 8 yrs it’s become a doable want vrs a just being a curiosity. My exwife and I separated, and divorced. I’m still pretty anchored here with my family and job. I’m a paramedic. So lots of job security. I actually make really good money, especially for the schedule I work. I got into debt when I was out of work for almost 11 months due to COVID. My father died of dementia and COPD complications almost a year ago, but I’m still here for my mom and my daughter. In the next 3 weeks I’m leaving the house I’ve lived in for the last 13 yrs. Really a weird feeling. I’ve lived in my travel trailer for over 6 months during the separation and trying to work things out. I remember feeling better in a smaller place. I remember being healthier, after I toned the drinking down. I’m looking forward to moving the trailer on a small pc of property for a much cheaper rent, until I’m squared away debt-wise and can buy my own property in the next yr , yr and a half. During that time I’ll be buying a plug and play 10kW solar system, and I’m going to finish up my Suburban for overlanding, and my Ford with a camper for more long term adventuring. Again, nice setup, thank you for the video.

Hello brother,sorry for all pain form losing papa. Life is harsh,at first giving us life,later taking it away. Hold on to that dream,I'm like you watching,wishing and planning. I'm waiting on my money and I'm taking the step to full time van life. 25 years driving semis I'm used to small spaces, happier with less. Good luck and GOD bless you.

Hi Stefan! I thoroughly enjoyed your video and your van build. I am retired military and have been a very happy van lifer since September 2021. I am almost 77, and I figure I should be able to continue the nomadic life for at least three to five years, hopefully longer. I bought a 2019 GMC Savana with 15K miles in 2021 and have compiled almost 30K miles traveling and exploring. All I did for my DIY "build" was move my man cave from my house into my van and it's very comfortable for me. I have everything I need. Anyway, I hope to meet you on the road some day. I will check out your You Tube channel. Stay safe out there. 😊

I agree with your idea of making your van look like a camper. People are surprised when they try to look stealth and get broken into by thieves looking for a van filled with expensive work tools. I think they might not try if they think someone is in there.

Something to consider fo additional cooking options. Check out electric fry pans. They are available in various sizes, from a small 6 inch electric fry pan to larger sizes. A 6 inch electric fry pan could be great for quick and easy frying needs, like frying up some sausage links or patties, fried or scrambled eggs for breakfast, or a hamburger for dinner or lunch. It doesn't/wouldn't take up a lot of storage space. Just an idea so you wouldn't have to pull out your large skillet. Either way, you seem to be very content/happy in your life, i.e. lifestyle. So good luck in your travels.

you summed it up pretty good... go and try it, see if you like it. ive camped all my life with my parents well when i was young and i loved it. i bought a van and am working on it to be as comfortable as i can make it yet give me what i need. i want to be able to just get away from life, even if it just for a weekend and enjoy things around me. this build is kinda a prototype to help me figure out what i need, want and should have. eventually i want to get something a little bigger and make it so i can hit the road, explore this country and feel relaxed knowing i can live how i want to live. thanks for the video.

What is the connection you have set up on your rear view mirror? I want it! - oh yeah!! My brother's van, an E350 extended [former] passenger van, is used for transporting show inventory & tables. After several years of sleeping/living in it at the shows, I am planning to build it out to be more comfy when it's not being used for work, yet flexible enough to continue with transporting inventory. Many of your implementations are of interest, especially the orange crates, which are sturdy but can still breathe and can still allow an idea of what's inside them. Great idea! I noticed quite a bit of leather work -- are you a SCAdian? Thanks for the tour =;^)

That’s an interesting water setup. I definitely wouldn’t want to drag water up and into any vehicle. So I’m thinking of another way to make it less cumbersome. I reckon it could be done by cutting an outlet similar to the petrol tank and just as discrete looking. Add a shut off valve so it never overflows inside. I may try something like that for my own future setup. This was a great way to unselfishly share and teach others and who are looking to do the same as you and many others are using to do. Extremely grateful. This is what freedom is all about…

We've had the technology and ideas to feed, clothe, shelter, and educate everyone on the planet, for free, for the past 200 years. We insist against using our technology to its full capacity. If there is a social problem and money can't be made from solving that problem, then it doesn't get solved. Gotta love how dumb humans are.

I got a van in November and it already had an inverter and battery… but I have no idea how to use it… how do I charge the battery and do I need it to run the inverter and how long would it last power wise? And do I have to find a microwave that’s 12v? Or anything electric have to be 12v or less?? I went camping one night and just used propane heater with the window cracked cause I didn’t know how to use all that. Another time a guy plugged is generator to my shore power hook out outside the van and I was able to use my small electric heater for a while but it pulled a lot from there camper

Cool van. But I dont see the reason to buy a van for vanlife. Easier to buy an RV since they ait much higher in price and they are ready to move into and has a WC/shower.
@serenityjewel7 ай бұрын
RVs aren't practical for people who don't want to pay for parking, for people who stay in cities, or for people who like to be way out in the boonies, which he does. They also get awful gas mileage, they're usually very cheaply made so stuff breaks a lot, they can't be your daily driver, and if you breakdown, you can't go to a regular mechanic. A reliable Class B is the size of a van but they're very expensive and they waste a lot of space with stuff you might not want.
