I have friends that often give me a hard time because I spend so much time alone in the mountains. I'm 71, and they say I'm too old. Maybe I am. Each time I go out, I know that could be the last trip. So, as odd as this may sound, that pushes me to make "one more trip", because tomorrow is not a promise. I was surprised to learn that you and Ric did not know each other personally. To watch one of you, is just like watching the other. You were definitely kindred spirits. Be well. God speed. Roger

Sorry for our loss. Did not know his name, but will look at his videos. Its easy to judge yourself when life takes a turn, but dont be to hard on yourself. The only thing we can do is to let situations like these inspire us to do the things we can while still around. Its easy to forget that life is ending in our everyday life, that the clock is ticking. You only have an amount of energy each day and with work/children its drained quickly. Love your videos and they have been a great inspiration to me, going out in the nature. Hats off!

Thanks Swede , You & Ric have both been an inspiration to me. Although I'm much older, the two of you have kept reminding me to keep it basic & simple. I look for the simplicity & beauty of the woods & treasure my time there. As age brings its restrictions I have learned that I must rebel against giving in & remember that life not being lived is life wasted Even at 81 I'm still most alive in the bush or paddling a canoe. We will both miss Ric but we will remember what we have learned from him. Thanks for a great video & stay safe there are still too many lakes to paddle & too many camps to rest in. Brian 81

Sad to see you sad. I have never watched Ric's channel, but will seek it out now. And as for your lesson, 'Never wait for stuff', I have followed a similar philosophy since I was a young man. "Never postpone happiness". No person, on their deathbed, says they wish they had spent one more long night at work, or attended one more staff meeting. I quit being a lawyer when I was 25, because the money did nothing to fulfill me as a person. The only constant in life is change, you can try to keep up and ride it like a wave, or you can let the wave break over you and drown. Glad to see you are a rider. Whatever you do, know that for the past few years, you have brightened days and calmed jangled nerves for hundreds of thousands of humans you will never meet, and who will never have the pleasure of meeting you. That is a significant accomplishment, and something of which to be rightly proud. Hope you will continue to share your wilderness adventures and allow us to live vicariously through your eyes. Thank you, my friend.
