I know - was unbelievable that people can treat the outdoors in such a disgraceful way - I don't think people realise the rules, sometimes with regards to fires, but to have the cheek to leave so much litter behind, they must have a brain cell or ten missing! I know we are all reiterating the point at the moment, but I'm not so sure the culprits are watching! Anyway, was a gpood camp (at last) and glad that you enjoyed the video. All the best!

I enjoyed that video. I've been lucky with going out this year, I was out towards the end of May for wild camps as we had all restrictions lifted, plus it's strange to see other parts of the UK still going on about the two metres social distancing. @davids95494 жыл бұрын
It's an interesting tent - obviously MSR/Big Agnes 'inspired' - looking a bit weird with its exterior skeleton (I'll bet that sings in the wrong kind of wind!) - what concerns me most is that there's nowhere inside the sleeping compartment for condensation to run apart from the floor, there's not even a mesh band above the bathtub like there is on other single-skin hybrids like the Lanshan Pro or the SMD Lunar Solo - unless you can ventilate enough, you could end up in a puddle. But it looks so glorious to be out again - I'm trying for my first proper 2020 camp this week in N Wales - thanks for your videos, I've enjoyed them during lockdown particularly as you show the human side of hiking and your attitude is A1 (subscribed). Also like seeing Dartmoor as I've never been there, I'm ashamed to say. A treat in store. When packing melty/runny/liquidy stuff like the one you burst, it's a good idea to have it inside an additional layer like a ziplock. Nothing wrong with that cookset, particularly if you're going to do a bit of real cooking, but I've moved on to a lighter meths/cone setup with Ti pot and I'm loving it - what made me change was the instability of those canister-top stoves; I'm a clumsy so-and-so and the final straw was torching my tent one night in wildest Knoydart. That looks like a beast of a sleeping mat! I don't imagine it's that light either...
@SummitOrNothing4 жыл бұрын
Yes, there are a few potential issues with this tent - i will test in more adverse conditions - but to be fair to Naturehike, this appears to be an earlier model, and they have since upgraded and altered a few things here and there - I hope to acquire a newer version at some point in the near future. The mat is huge - but for a quick stroll up a hill it was no real hardship carrying it and worth the comfort at the other end - I have had so many nights shuffling and slipping around on rubber inflatable beds - this seemed a lot better. Thanks for watching and your feedback! Cheers!

Couple questions please. How did you and “Naf” meet? How long have yall been together( no Brokeback reference intended)? It would be interesting to hear more about your other life...family jobs etc. Great fun watching ....thank you

Met Nath about 20 years ago through a friend who worked with him. There are a couple of Q&A vids that we've done in the past,you can search for them,they have a bit more info in them. Glad you like the videos.

Thank you very much for sharing this. Did you get much condensation on the inside of your tent? Looking forward to your next videos particularly the one when you walk the length of Dartmoor.
@SummitOrNothing4 жыл бұрын
I didnt get any condensation actually, which really surprised me. You can see a more indepth look at the tent on my channel. Posted up last week so still fairly high on the recent uploads list!

Great video as always Trev. I set out last weekend for a wild camp up near Sharp Tor but was confronted with ‘NO CAMPING’ signs at every access point, even though the Dartmoor website says wild camping is now allowed (in approved areas only of course). I take it the signs are actually out of date rather than anything else? I’m heading out tomorrow night in the Hangershell Rock area regardless as I’m getting cabin fever in the house! Good to see you out and about again and looking forward to seeing more of your adventures.

Cheers Rod. I'm not sure whAt that was all about. I hear that some areas have been shit off since the recent mad rush and abuse by individuals, whether this was one, I'm not sure. As long as you keep low, leave no trace I'm sure that if it's purple on the map you should be fine...

I could have sworn you said you were doing the Abbot’s Way ...? Andy way very nice :) what do you use to edit your movies with, I like the music and the transitions. And remember “2 metres, mate’” :)))
@SummitOrNothing4 жыл бұрын
Yea, I was going to do the Abbotts Way, until the wife pointed out a post on the Dartmoor FB Group where people were warned away from Nuns Cross area after reports and one hospitalisation from stampeding cows... thought I'd give it a miss on my own.... it is all mentioned in the video. I use Sony Vegas to edit with. And thanks for watching, glad that you like enjoy the video!
@Hammyandfriends4 жыл бұрын
Summit Or Nothing haha 😂 you must be kidding... I read that report, cows can be a bit frisky... but I run there regularly and don’t get bothered by them. Why don’t you take Nath and a pantomime costume as a disguise... you’ll have to flip a coin for the rear end 🐮 🐴

Nice! How did the tent perform? Did you have condensation...? In mine I use to put the traverse pole OVER the main one, having a little more room in high.

Didn't have any condensation, when xh surprised me to be honest, unless it all burnt off by the time I eventually woke up lol. Cheers for watching.

Do you guys organise or go to community or group walks? I'm a newbie and regularly go around dartmoor but dont know where to start with it all and it can be dangerous to get it wrong on your own aye
@SummitOrNothing4 жыл бұрын
Hi Danielle - I know what you mean - safety in numbers especially if you're not all that confident. I have organised some charity walks in the past on Dartmoor - with twenty or so people getting together - hope to do some more of them as the restrictions are lifted and group gatherings are back on.

It was a long climb on the path that we did - there are other more direct routes up, but I can't really comment on them yet. Our path was well trodden and beautiful though.

That was one hell of a video. Thanks for filming / editing / sharing it. One thing I noticed (but didn't when I watched your review of the Vik 1) was that there seemed to be a rear vestibule which, although it had no outer door, seemed to have a horizonal zipper on the inside mesh meaning that it could be used for (albeit limited) storage Am I correct? And don't worry about the "Best Before" dates on the boil in the bag meals. The actually last a lot longer than stated but are put on to protect the manufacturers against personal injury claims. Cheers. Ken
@SummitOrNothing4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ken - rea;lly glad that you enjoyed this video, it was great to finally get back out again! There is a zip at the bottom of the side to get in and out of the additional vestibule, I mentioned it in the Vik 1 vs Cloud Up 1 video, but didn't really pay it much attention in these videos. Its a bit naff really, you would struggle fitting your backpack in and out of it, as it literally only undoes along the bottom of it. It would have been better as a full opener...

Great Vid (as per 👍🏻)....I’ve got the exact same inflatable mat (first one I ever tried) and it’s excellent...I trialled mine on Fur Tor and have never been without it since...is it bulky?...yep...but a godsend in my (humble) opinion. Note: I’m noticing more and more litter on the Moor recently,which ‘boils my piss’ quite frankly....it’s getting to the stage where the freedom we enjoy up there will soon be limited by the mindless minority if they’re not careful...someone even dumped a fridge in one of the car parks below Sharpitor/Leather Tor the other week...😡. Anyway, loved the video...👍🏻
@SummitOrNothing4 жыл бұрын
I know its absolutely shocking behaviour, and all us KZbinrs are currently sharing the Leave No Trace mantra but to be honest, I don't think the guilty parties are likely to be watching our vids. They are not wild campers so much as festiival goers with no where to camp...
