Not a fumble. Think the point is that it is such a shame. There were so many points where it could have been prevented but Murphy's law bit them hard.

@@criticalcommenter I say it's a mistake on the part of the characters and intentional on the part of the writers to make it so polarizing. It's meant to make you go WHY DIDNT YOU BLOW UP HORUS FULGRIM GOD DAMMIT HOW WHYYYYY. because that's memorable, that causes emotions. Writing is meant to manipulate peoples emotions and those moments do exactly that.

@@ouchpotato2221 But they fumbled the entire lore for them. It's not a single event. They made an entire legion seem like petulant children. There is no excuse other than poor writing. Emperor's children had the potential to be one of the most interesting and deep legions and instead they are 4chan memes. I can't think of a single positive from the entire heresy series.
