Solomon Islands-China agreement is ‘threat to the east of Australia’

Australian Strategic Policy Institute Executive Director Peter Jennings says the agreement between the Solomon Islands and China is “simply unacceptable.”
It comes as a leaked document reveals the Solomon Islands will allow Chinese military forces to be stationed on the Pacific nation, including major projects.
Mr Jennings said Australia has been too distracted and has not invested enough in the Pacific region over the last decade.
“This is going to require quick, and firm, and decisive action from the Australian government,” he told Sky News Australia.
“We cannot allow this to happen.”

Are we invading the Solomons? Get your facts right on Ukraine too. They gave up their nuclear weapons and both Russia and the US signed an agreement to not put those weapons back. They don't have nuclear weapons now and they aren't a member of NATO and there was no NATO presence in the country. How exactly has Ukraine been a threat to Russia? It looks like China bought the Solomon's out for military expansion. We aren't welcome in the South China Sea and we haven't set up a base there either but it's OK for China in the Solomon's.

The people of Australia have exercised their free will to live in a free and democratic country and not have decisions made for them by an authoritarian regime. China's attempt to coerce Australia militarily will fail . Ukraine has shown the free will of it's own people is stronger than an authoritarian regime trying to impose its will on an independent sovereign state. Without the support of it's people, there is no legitimacy. This is something China does not have.

I think it already has happened. When I was deployed to the Solomon Islands back in 2003/04 with RAMSI I found that alot of the shops in Honiara were staffed by the indigenous population but run by Chinese or foreign investment. It was startling to find a Chinese women sitting atop a tall tower like chair much like a surf life saver sits on, scanning the floor below with her constant blank expression.......I wish I had a saw that day with me....heh,heh.

The first township in the Solomon Islands was a Chinatown located on the island of Tulagi this was even before WW2. The first song all Solomon Islands sang as a national song even before they had a national anthem was titled "walkabouti long chinatown", the chinese of the Solomons had their ships used in the allied effort against japan in ww2 and were never reimburesed. The chinese even helped the allies in solomon islands by providing their clothes tailoring needs etc and much more. The native solomon scouts during ww2 gave their lives for the Aussies, Americans etc, and till today there are bombs blowing up solomon islanders in 2022 remnants from ww2, the US does not give a damn. There are chinese workers in the Solomon Islands sweating under the Solomon sun covered in dirt with their hands in mud and concrete all day long with Solomon Islanders building infrastructure that can be seen as real development. ONLY NOW that the US dictates that china expansion must stop, therefore its puppet country Australia want to step in and causee commotion on behalf of USA. Where were you all along?
