I believe your old pair were a gen 1 not gen 3 since from the gen 2 onwards the tongue was added two strips of faux leather on each side. Gen 1 were the better ones, gen 2 were good but the faux leather started to peel off due to friction leaving a white fabric beneath. Also have narrower toe box than gen 1. Thanks for the comparison

suggestion: please show and compare tread pattern. I have bought solomon running and trail-running shoes but have not bought a full on boot from them yet. this looks really nice!

Thanks man. I plan on doing a short follow up next month after Utah. Add a few things I forgot, a quick opinion after hard use and I will throw in a tread comparison. If you are interested, it's the same pattern as most of their shoes, only more pronounced (deeper).

@@adrenalineactual4261 ok yeah deep treads are what I need because I hate slipping on airsoft bbs and my XA Forces mids have treads that just aren't enough

I find these boots have a tendency to crack and split, especially where there is fabric. I’ve owned at least six pairs of Salomon now and run cross country in them usually 15 or so k per week. I find they struggle when frequently wet with splitting being the biggest issue.

Decent review, but sorry to tell you your old boots are not the 4d 3s. Those are the second version. I own both the 3s and now own the 4s. I urge you to look up the appropriate photos to confirm. I’m not here to pick on you, only to save face. Good luck.

I appreciate that, and something that completely slipped my attention. When I bought them they were said to be 3's and after some research they do appear to be more similar to the 2's.

@@adrenalineactual4261 Either way, the 4s are probably the most badass and comfortable boots I’ve ever hiked in. It’s probably best you skipped the 3s, because I said the same thing about those and was furious when I found out they changed the most perfect boots in the world. Since It’s next to impossible to get the 3s in my size anymore, I caved and got the 4s. I was very relieved and impressed with the new feel. I guess you just gotta trust Salomon.

What's the heel height?

Heel height is approximately 1 3/4 inches. The shaft height is 5 inches (top of the heel to top of the back of the boot).

Aunque no los sentí incómodos, la calidad de la liberación intital fue mala. Parece que aún no estaban listos para ser lanzados. Se necesitaban más pruebas antes de que deberían haber estado a la venta. Pido disculpas por la traducción, espero que tenga sentido.
