This is usually the case for humanity, what we advise we usually do not do a good job in avoiding ourselves for the flesh is corrupt. That is part of Paul's admonition to those saying do not steal, if they themselves stole, etc, but all the same, we are still to teach what is right, even if we prove that none of us can make heaven without the gift of Grace and Mercy, that we are all sinners, none of us able to overcome sin on our own. And it makes you wonder, how often, not if, Solomon had those words come to mind of his in his later years as he did just what God has said for him not to do, and just turned off the memory chatter, his wisdom drowned in the pleasure of sin that he would even willfully repeatedly do something so terrible as that, proving in the end not smarter than any one else. It is just an incredible testimony to the seduction of sin, which Solomon had understood, when he had advised not even to go near the temptress door, but here later on he would not only do that, but bring them into his concubine chambers. And that happened with planned thoughts, plenty of time to rethink what he was doing. And you know what? You said they made him pray, but it takes two to make one do an action. Solomon was a man, and no woman forced his knees or forced ablations out of his mouth to those false gods. Solomon proved disloyal to God by willingly and in knowledge, ignoring God's warning to him, and just going ahead in the eagerness of his lust to rationalize it would be no harm to please the women, over pleasing God. In other words, Solomon disregarded his advise and married, which is an involved act, foreign women, then in the drunken pleasures of lust, participated and embraced setting up altars to his pagan wives as they asked for. More accurate would be to say they inspired him to pray and worship false gods, as there have been men and women married to pagan persons who have held fast to their faith, never worshipping the idols of their spouses. Solomon proved disloyal when tested; he too quickly acted treacherously against God, putting his desire to make happy and please his foreign wives over God himself. God's winnowing fork proved him a tare, and reiterates that no matter how powerful is the wisdom of a man, it never equates to godly wisdom with godly outcome without God in the center.

As I was sitting here reading this, my mind started transforming the word "woman" into "sin." It WAS the woman who enticed Adam into sin, but it was Satan who produced the sin and enticed Eve to grab a hold of the "honey." Because it's not only women who go around and offer men honey combs that lead to death, men are also involved in offering sinful temptations. So beware of "sin," which produces death. His Queen calling him in, tells him he is no longer of service to her. Relieving him of his duty, and commitments she sends him away... Banished from her and her kingdom. What is this Knight to do? He is loyal, he is faithful, he is extremely capable... should he retire his sword to the mantle and live in isolation in the woods alone forever. Of no use to anyone. Or is there another who wi recognize his worth, appreciate his values,and understand him to be the Knight of her dreams waiting for him to be discovered by her? Does God want this Knight to live alone, die alone, and have all those who could have been saved and helped by this Knight and his sword lost from the lack of his capable defending loving hands skill? The sword is Love...the Knight is the committed loyal Person. What would a person advise such an individual? BE USEFUL! BE LOVED, AND GIVE LOVE! DO NOT GIVE UP ON LOVE! Today's society appears to have lost its way in it's commitments to one another. Divorce is everywhere, and failed loyalties rampant... But for those who have been rejected in this regard, I do not believe a God who made all to love and be loved demands their forfiture of their lives for dogmatic system's of beliefs held fast from thousands of years ago. It's a VERY contextually based concept, as misused some might take it for a tool to justify the very thing this is designed to heal one from...but for those sincere, genuine, and underappreciated to the point of abandonment, there is hope that their is someone who knows you are the perfect Person who God designed for them to have and hold till death do you part in this Life. It is this person you were searching for, you simply stumbled along the way trying to search them out.

Besides, the bible records him having great wisdom and spewing thousands of proverbs early on in his reign - long before he became this huge horn-dawg and started collecting women.

The problem with these lessons is that they always assume that the male in question is already married. They tell the male audience that they mustn't commit sexual sins or will destroy their marriage and that they need to take better care of their wives instead of renting the services of other women. And get these lessons always ignore the fact that many male members in the audience are actually bachelors. There is nothing in these lessons for guys like me who not only don't have a wife but have lost almost all hope of ever getting one.
