"Of the estimated 2.2 billion people without safely managed access in 2022, 1.5 billion had what is considered basic access, meaning that water may not be available on the property, but comes from an improved source such as a water pipe, a protected well or a protected natural source, and collection time takes no more than 30 minutes. An estimated 703 million people are more limited still. Of those without basic access in 2022, over half lived in sub-Saharan Africa, where less than a third of the population is equipped with safely managed drinking water, per UNICEF’s estimates. I was in Glasgow Central today, I work just a block from the station. Your subtitle made me wince, since Glasgow is most definitely not in England, I hope you'll correct it! The Citizen does nice food, my mum likes their Haggis. I didn't like Haggis at all growing up, but I've grown to like it now. Steak pie is one of my favourite foods. Yes, lots of people eat it at Hogmanay (New Year's Eve), so much so that if you're not making your own, you'll probably need to order it specifically at the butcher's as they sell out fast in the supermarkets. I'm so sorry your train had a problem with the water - this has been happening to the Caledonian Sleeper a lot and I wish they'd hurry up and fix it. I don't know why it's a problem as the commuter train I got this morning got it's water tank filled up at a station the Caledonian Sleeper passes through. I'm really glad you enjoyed Glasgow, it can be a loud city, but it's a great place. I have to say... while I do like Greggs, I would definitely have chosen Paul's!! Chicken Tikka is actually from Glasgow, not England...where was your rice? I think they forgot to bring it over to you! It's always served with rice!

The misconception of the "British bad food" thing came from American GI's during WW2 while Britain was rationing, the way some Americans like to over exaggerate didn't help either. It took some time for things to get back to normal, then black and Asian people started to arrive in numbers. The Chicken Tikka Masala came about because of a joint effort in tastes, the British dish has been a favourite here for some time. Later on there is Nando's. Our food tends to not be pumped full of chemicals, preservatives, salt etc like other countries. Before the people coming over and the spices getting cheaper etc, there is the Sunday Roast or Bacon Sandwich (and plenty more).

So, a lot of the 'bad food' you're talking about will probably be things like liver & onions, jellied eels, many convenience or frozen foods which are usually battered, fried or covered in pastry - a lot of it is down to the food being offal (tripe, for example) and 'traditional' stuff. As you probably know, haggis is traditional scottish food, made from the 'pluck' of a sheep (heart, lungs, liver) mashed together with spices, oatmeal, suet (raw hard fat) and then usually boiled in the animals stomach, though a lot of makers use artificial casing instead. It was served with 'neeps' and 'tatties' on your plate, mashed turnips and mashed potatoes on your plate, with what looked like a whisky-cream sauce. Fun fact re: the whisky You should never put ice in straight away - to properly taste whisky, you try it neat (i.e straight) and then add ice if it will enhance the flavour, or water (some find this to be an argumentative topic)
