Solution Desktop Icons Rearranging Themselves After Restart In Windows 11

If you are a Windows user and facing this problem where the desktop icons keep rearranging themselves after restart then maybe the auto arrange option is enabled, though this option is disabled and still you are facing the issue then there might be a problem with drivers or icon cache files etc. In this Video, we will discuss the different methods to solve the issue in detail. This is incorrect. Auto Arrange does not change the order of the icons. I have always had it enabled in Windows 7 and my icons never changed order. Auto Arrange only ensures that icons remain together in a continuous, unbroken "chain". Windows 10 has an obvious bug that causes icons to be rearranged after rebooting or signing out. No one has come up with a real fix for this yet.

Thanks! Deleting the icon cache didn't work for me. But unchecking that "allow themes to change icons" box in personalization->themes worked.

Hello Ray. awesome tut. Do you know maybe a solution when turning on secondary (extended) monitor and all icons from primary transfer to secondary. No valid solution so far

Try this and let me know if this helps. Right-click on an empty space on the Desktop, click on View. Uncheck the option Auto Arrange Icons. Check the option for Align the icons to grid.
