Thank You Dr Yasir Qadhi, for showing solution of current crisis from Quraan (Surat Al-Asr). I truly believe that there is solution given by Allah (Subhaba Wa Tala) through his Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) for every problem, we need to search and apply. The image of Islam need to be cleared to the entire world by us as Muslims, through true knowledge and application of the teachings of Quran.

I am sorry but I have to be critical here. He offers no concrete solutions here. Telling people to increase their religiosity and increase Islamic knowledge isn't going to solve anything on a macro level. The problems of the Ummah extend far beyond the scope of what he is saying. Nobody is going to deny that Praying and practicing Islam is not good. But the problems are political, they are economic, social, cultural, geographical, linguistic, etc. It's really a cop out to say that we all need to be religious. That isn't a point of contention. Islamic Scholars are never on the front lines trying to solve the problems. It's always the ones that aren't so religious but have a wider scope in solving problems that are trying to fight for the Ummah. Religious scholars merely sit back and criticize anything that they do without providing any solutions aside from fearing God and praying.

Thank you for raising a good point. However, what he meant wasn't just doing your daily prayers (as it is true that it doesn't affect much of your environment). What he meant was literally applying Islam in our daily lives (helping out people in trouble instead of being scornful for what they've done, learning to interact wisely to oppression, etc). For example, you mentioned economic. Practising islam means you will not gamble, you will give more money to charity than you have before, you will not steal nor deal with thieves, you will forbid interest (if you're the government) if you're a regular citizen, you will try to avoid interest as much as you can, etc. Though those are only the rules, but behind the rules is an explanation that motivates you (this is the knowledge that needs to be spread in the ummah). For example, in Islam, when you give money, we believe Allah will give us more (it could be repaid in money, or a better job, or finding an awesome deal for a car you'd otherwise think is too good to be true, etc) And this motivates you, but it motivates you most when you pray your daily prayers and learn more hadiths and when you increase in doing good as well as increase in knowledge. At this point you got the ball rolling: your faith motivates your doing good deeds, and your doing good deeds motivates your faith. And this is only in the 'economic' field. On the other hand, you are right to say that many scholars aren't doing what they should be and that the people pushing the world forward aren't even the scholars. This is because we (including the scholars) are not practicing Islam as we should be; we scorn everything and offer solutions to nothing, as you said, and we are closed minded about anything new, and many scholars don't take other cultures into consideration. If we did practice Islam, Saudi Arabia wouldn't be what it is now, same as every other muslim country. But this brings me back to saying that Yasir Qadhi is right. The reason why you weren't impressed was because saying "Practice Islam" is too vague of a statement so its only natural to be like...that's it? Yet the solution in the statement is hidden in plain sight because you can't dive into specifics in a 17:21 minute speech :P
