Thanks for the internal installation instructions - the first I've found that talks you through how to set it up as there are no instructions in the box. Easy when you know how, but that's true of most things. Your time in doing this is appreciated

My personal observation: The bait station with the snapping killer traps is exponentially more effective vs just using the snapping traps alone! I've yet to use poison... possible in future?
@therabbithat2 жыл бұрын
poison means a slow painful death for an intelligent and social mammal. Also, any birds of prey in your area that eat rats might kill the rat while he is slow and dying of the poison, because it takes so long to kill them. This can kill the bird of prey (who may be endangered and who is actively keeping the rat population in your area down!) Poison only as a very last resort when there's no other choice!

You've found that the mice go for the snap trap when it is enclosed in a base station more often than when the snap trap is exposed and alone? I've been considering placing snap traps in bait stations but due to cost and size of the bait station it means I can't have as many snap traps in play as just having exposed snap traps.

Is it a bad idea to add these boxes in your house or yard if you dont currently have a problem with vermin? Will it attract pests to your home?
@solutionspestandlawn2 ай бұрын
Exactly. If you don't currently have a rodent problem, you shouldn't apply bait control tactics. Bait will just attract more activity. Better to apply Integrated Pest Management strategies; reinforce perimeter boundaries, maintain the yard, and make food and water sources inaccessible. Keep in mind that Solutions Tamper-Proof Rat & Mouse Bait Stations can also house Solutions Easy Set Rat Traps if you would still like to use the station without setting bait. You can use these to monitor for activity around your property without the risk of harming non-target animals. www.solutionsstores.com/big-snap-e-rat-trap

Looks like a good product, does solve some problems. I've found the best way to clean the stations is with a shop vac. Traps work well if there are a few mice, but you can't beat real infestation with them.

@solutionspestandlawn4 жыл бұрын
Hi Stephen, sorry to hear you lost your key. You can buy replacement keys here: www.solutionsstores.com/aegis-replacement-key And sorry, no hack to opening the station once it is locked without destroying it. The rodent bait station is tamper-resistant and specifically designed to NOT open without a key. It's how we keep non-target animals and people safe :)

How many rodents can be caught at a time?
@jessicawilson13444 жыл бұрын
can the mice get out of the traps?
@solutionspestandlawn4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Jessica. The bait station is a tool to provide an enclosed safe space for mice and rats to eat any rodent poison that is housed in the station. So, yes, they will be able to freely come and go as they please. However, you can install a snap trap inside the station. They would enter the station and then get caught and killed in the snap trap.

Other than giving mice something to eat, what does the bait do in terms of eliminating rodents?
@zackdelarocha85 жыл бұрын
Juan Alvarez Haha, the bait is poison. It feeds them and then they die outside or between your walls.
@therabbithat2 жыл бұрын
@@zackdelarocha8 or it slows them down so they get caught by an owl or another bird of prey and then the owl dies too.
@zackdelarocha82 жыл бұрын
@@therabbithat That can happen as well although I don’t know if that’s much of an issue in large cities. Or at least I don’t know that it’s worth the trade off because rats are out of control in many cities throughout the United States and snap traps just would not cut it.
@martinschulz9381 Жыл бұрын
Most poisons available in stores are weak and watered down. If the poison contains only 1% of the active ingredient, they are junk The poisons designed for pro and farm use will come in big packages and contain 5% active ingredient and will kill the rodent with one feeding. They are generally only available in farm or commercial type of stores and will say "for farm use" on them. Look at the % on the back.
@lahuretz4 жыл бұрын
Is the purpose of this so only rats may access the food (poison) or so that they die in it as well?
@solutionspestandlawn4 жыл бұрын
Hi, good question. The purpose of the bait station is to provide a dark, enclosed space for the rodents to feed on the bait. But they are also tamper-resistant, meaning they cannot be opened by children or pets. You must have a key to open. Most rat poisons are slow-acting, so rodents will typically feed in a bait station and then return to their nest.
