For the record you can do this like a 3x3 excluding orienting the centers when making the cross. When you solve the last 3 centers of the last layer just turn it in the wrong direction and it flips the center upside down. Then solve it in the right direction and it will solve the centers of the last layer and flip the last center you did back upright

Your beginning was very encouraging...saying it's basically a 3x3. I can do the 3x3, the mirror, fisher, and some others without any problem. So I a was happy to hear you do the Windmill...like a 3x3. Then the shock: You decided, for what reason ever, to begin with yellow instead of white. Basically there is no (mathematical) reason to start with any color, but when making tutorials, especially for beginners, it's a good idea to keep the rule to begin with white. I am just learning Fridrich, and to get color-neutral. But learning a new puzzle, starting with yellow, is too much for me now. My brain is still on top of my head, and not under my feet :-)
@daniellee5605 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry that you feel that way; the algorithms I show here only work in the middle layer if you start with the yellow side, and that was how I was taught. I also always start with white on every other cube but this one, but once i learned the moves, it made no difference where I started with this one.
@tanyabaron61434 жыл бұрын
My cube seems to be reversed so these algorithms work if I use them and solve it white side up. On your cube, when you hold it yellow side up, the side pieces are short-long. Mine, when I hold it fellow side up, is long-short. So it really does make a difference! I spent ages trying to use a different set of algorithms before I realized my problem.

This is just a 3x3x3 cube where the cubelets have a novel shape. Daniel has correctly deduced that you need to care about the orientation of the centers of the middle layer pieces, and he explains how to deal with this in a very clear and simple way. But he apparently did not understand that NO other new algorithm is necessary. So his explanation about the middle layer is a little bit clumsy.
@Ravenfellblade5 жыл бұрын

As long as you keep using the r' d' r d method (don't forget the last down move each time) and only rotate the top layer when moving on to your next corner to be oriented, it should work every time. Unless the corner fell off at some point and was put back on wrong? Other than that I'm not sure.
