Solved : Jumpy/Dancing Trackpad For Macbook

In case this tip doesn't work, and for those with a Mac trackpad, it very well could be that water droplets have leaked into the trackpad. Even water from your fingers (say, after washing dishes or handling a wet glass when drinking) will cause this issue. The Mac needs to be vacuumed (while computer is switched off and while trackpad is pressed down), cleaned with a lint-free cloth, then left to dry out for a day. In most cases, this will solve the problem.

@@worldview2134 this was in my case a aftermarket charger which was not properly grounded. Try another one just to check and then also try charging it on a different wall socket

I’ve already reformat my Mac OS X but the issue still persist. At the moment, I can only fix the issue temporarily by pressing the four side trackpad whenever it happens .

My trackpad is acting up on its own. I reset the PRAM, and put my fingers on all of the 4 corners of the trackpad, gently apply some pressure and push for about 10-15 seconds. If your battery is swollen, it may also have an effect on the trackpad as it's sitting down below the pad. But if it is not swollen, or there is no bulging over the top of the trackpad, then it's not the battery that's the culprit. Or disable the trackpad if you're using a mouse like in my case, I use the macbook for djing purposes and uses an external usb mouse. works for me but the problem sometimes persists and comes back from time to time.

I have a perfect 2013 MacBook Pro and the jumpy trackpad persisted even after I tried to reset the SMC. I tried hooking up the mouse, and it still didn't work bc I didn't check the ignore trackpad

Sweet man thx alot, it seems like that solved the issue. I almost gave up, everyone mentioned it could be the hard drive, the trackpad it self or that you have to go to trackpad option and remove some options. But you where the only one who i found that said this. Thanks alot m8!

Is it weird if when I click the box for “ignore built in trackpad when mouse or wireless trackpad is present” that my mouse DOESNT get disabled? my mouse works whether or not I click that button.

your mouse is suppose to work still... it’s ONLY the trackpad on the macbook that gets disabled

for me, i don't have a cursor problem. My problem is that my computer will suddenly switch tabs and just press random keys and its really annoying. Like when i'm playing a game suddenly my keyboard will glitch and something will be controlling my keyboard and i can't even do anything about it and now whenever im watching a video suddenly something will make my youtube video fast forward (L button) and go backwards (J button) and it even makes the video restart alot too (if u press the number 0 it makes the video go from the start) if there is anybody who has the same problem as me and knows a solution, please help
