His legs are missing and hes way higher up than he was when he recorded his last moments. Later we see raptors jumping, trying to reach Erics mother who is also hanging from a tree. I always got the impression the raptors arrived and wanted to kill Eric. To save the boys life Ben wiggled around and made noises to attract the Raptors attraction. They ripped off his legs and bleeding out he climbed further up the tree, while succumbing to his wounds. In a climate like the one of isla sorna insects turn a corpse into a skeleton in a matter of days.

Suspension trauma is likely the other thing that killed him. Look at his harness. The flow of blood was cut from his legs via the femoral artery. This is actually a thing that OSHA safety personnel warn workers about when they are working in harnesses. So not only is the poor bastard dealing with internal trauma, but with the reduced blood flow from his legs going back to the torso, his blood goes bad and clots. So if the internals didn't kill him, the clots going straight to his heart after dropping Eric did. At that point, Eric leaves before the scavengers start to eat the boy's stepdad.

As someone who lives in a rather tropical area, my own theory follows the internal injuries one. In a hot and humid environment, decomp operates at an accelerated rate due to the nature of all of that bacteria having ideal conditions. I mean, a Uni over this way left a dead deer out and within ten days decomp and scavengers cleared it out. So. Dude died of internal injuries, legs fell off and were probably scavenged by raptors or other smaller critters. Body ended up higher from continued attempts at scavenging by flying dinos. Although with all the cords and foliage cover they couldn't really do more than yank at the parachute and lift his remains higher. Which also explains the state of his harness and the paracord being an absolute rats nest.

A reason as to why I don’t believe the Pteranodon theory: prior to later events in the movie, they were locked in their cage. If he was dangling from a branch that was flexed downward due to his weight, if his legs are removed, he will weigh less and hang higher. If his legs are pulled off, he would have been pulled further down by the weight of the attacker until the limb(s) tore off, and the flex of the branch would rebound, lifting him even higher, or even flicking him to another, likely higher, branch.

Chances are he did died from internal injuries and then a dinosaur just attacked him. So he was still killed by internal injuries. Most likely landed wrong in the tree and had sever impact, especially by the fact that he could of also had outside injuries as well due to how tight the strings could of been on him. Also depending on how server the injuries are, it could be 6 hours unless taken to hospital (looked online). Due to the environment, it could of been much less.

Remember kiddies. Like with power tools, but nature: WOOD CAN CUT THROUGH FLESH TOO.
@CSKaras Жыл бұрын
@@annabethsyndullacrump1424Nope, and here is why. First, Eric is smaller, so the chances of him taking damage is, too. If I drop a mouse down an elevator shaft through, it lands and is fine. If I drop a horse, it is dead on impact. Throw in other obstructions, mouse is still good but a little dinged and horse is dying already as it hits. Second, the harness and life vest he was still wearing would have protected Eric's front, along with his instinctive reflex to use his arms and tuck his legs for protection (it is possible Ben also told him to do so). Ben's legs would have tucked up, but been obstructed by Eric (potentially, even further protecting him) and his arms were still holding onto the parasail and the camera, thus keeping his body in an untucked position. Ben's body being bigger than Eric's also provided protection (similar to the man who died protecting a smaller, terrified woman by holding her and wrapping around her at the Aurora, CO Movie Theater attack). Third, the internal damage was likely inflicted from impacts to his back. Again, Eric's back is protected by Ben. However, Ben's back is completely exposed to hitting branches and other dense foliage. There is a potential for bludgeoning, punctures, gashes, and broken bones (vertebrae and ribs) as a result. A barracuda launched itself out of the water at a woman on a kayak in Florida and the impact collapsed one of her ribs. If a fish can do that, imagine what a tree (and some of those tropical trees are absolutely massive) can do. It is also possible for him to have broken a rib in one of the hits and it punctured a lung. All this to say, Eric would have been fine for a variety of reasons, and Ben would have died shortly after getting Eric loose. It was his final act to give the boy a chance. Oh, one final reason Eric would have been fine and Ben wouldn't have: plot armor. As for his legs, who knows.
@annabethsyndullacrump1424 Жыл бұрын
@CSKaras you're ignoring the fact that in the video that Paul, Udesky, Amanda, Billy, and Alan watched, Eric didn't have a scratch on him. There is no way he wouldn't have been injured at all in that situation, so he had to have had internal injuries. And Eric wasn't that much smaller than Ben. Maybe came up to mid chest give or take. Eric's body in the harness covered the majority of Ben's torso so yes, he would have been more seriously injured than Ben if the latter had died from internal bleeding.
@CSKaras Жыл бұрын
@@annabethsyndullacrump1424 Go back and rewatch the scene carefully. Eric has a big abrasion on the bridge of his nose, a huge abrasion or cut on his left forearm several on his hands and a quick glimpse of some on his legs (as well as Ben's legs). He is also wearing a 3/4 sleeve shirt, which may have helped him. Also, once they hit the canopy, the fall would go from a glide at a forward-downward angle and turned into free-fall straight down as the glider failed and crumpled. What's more, the glider and rigging would have got caught up in the trees and slowed the overall fall, but Ben would have even more opportunity for traumatic injury due to the fact that he was hooked directly into the rigging. Eric, being attached to Ben's harness, would have been less impacted by the glider and rigging getting wrenched this way and that as they fell through the branches.

@benroraff8400 Compies can EASILY climb trees. We see them hopping, which would take an increased amount of strength in their legs to do so rather than just walking. With their downwards facing front claws and their extreme light weight, they could scale up the bark of a tree and probably fall onto Ben from the branch that the parachute got snagged on. As we have seen in JP2; they remember who had hurt them. In the late first/early second act of The Lost World, Dieter Stark zaps a compy with an electric prod. Later on in that movie when he goes for a wee, he tries to do that again. Now remembering this specific thing as a threat, they kill him.

If you buy some handheld cameras today, they warp the terrain so it doesn't look very steep or high. Just imagine how a grainy camera from 20 years ago would distort hight perception and depth. It doesn't look that high, and Eric falling made it seem not far, but Ben was recording a foot or two above Eric's head, so that's just added distortion. As for Ben dying, I just assumed it was the raptor's that ate him. Or his lower half. After all, they did land in the middle of the raptor's nesting grounds.
@Valarius_J Жыл бұрын
There is no way Ben died from internal injuries during the descent. Any branches that were hit on the way down would have hit Eric first and dumped most of the kinetic energy into him because Eric was tethered to Ben in the front. Seeing that Eric is more or less fine and able to run away means that nothing bad enough happened on the way down to kill Ben. The Pterodactyls also couldn't have been responsible for the attack as they were trapped into the aviary until towards the end of of JP3. In the scene where the survivors escape the aviary, there is a scene where Miss Kirby closes a gate behind her and leaves. However, at the end of the scene, we are very specifically shown she did not lock it securely and it is opened up again from the inside. This is how the pterodactyls got out of their cage to fly away in the ending. Before that they were trapped inside. The simplest answer is probably the right one: It's a continuity error because the movie was written during film. These scenes were filmed not in chronological order like most movies. It was probably raptors that or other taller theropods that killed him / scavenged the corpse. The change in height is just a continuity error.

The simplest solution is often the correct one. A larger predator came by and in the process of ripping the legs off flung the body into the tree. The fliers weren't released until later in the movie, and while rapors could have the leg part, they would have had a hard time moving the body. You also have to remember he was dead and larger predators are followed around by all sorts of carion feeders because dinos eat like sharks. Broken spine is highly probable. From a branch that whipped back at him as they came to a stop but I would think a similar injury would have happened to Eric since he was attached to the harness Ben was wearing instead of suffering minor abrasions and lacerations.

IT DOES explain his missing legs. They simply rotted off and fell down onto the ground. Small scavengers (maybe even those Raptors) ate them.
@Wolfbane1677 Жыл бұрын
People forget T-Rex is a scavenger in fact a few big dinos are and who to say every dino isn't a scavenger? My point is Ben could have died from internal bleeding and then eaten by a carnivore. Hell vultures eat dead meat all the time so who to say dinos can't?

I’d say something had a grip on his legs and the bone detached from the socket thus slingshotting his much lighter torso up higher and the parachute caught on a higher part of the tree
@project_Notorious11 ай бұрын
I think the answer is more obvious then what we think, eric would pull the parachute raising ben higher into the trees to try to prevent him from getting eaten while eric looked for help, Afterwards a dinosaur would eat his legs but wasn’t able to reach the rest of his body. this seems like the most reasonable explanation. 🤷♂️ i know im 3 months late but i feel like the theory is the most accurate one we got in this case. Great video i love the JP franchise, sucks we never got a openworld game that plays like the last of us but in a jurassic formate

I'm gonna vote for Compies. He climbed up into the tree to disentangle himself, and got attacked by a swarm of them. Munch munch munch, explains why the body is intact mostly, but eventually the legs fall off and are carried away by either Raptors or Compies.

Honestly could have been any number of dino that just tried eating them. Got ahold of the legs, ripped them off and in doing so flung the body higher into the entangled mess above.

Maybe shortly after the fall they got attacked by some predator, and Ben told Eric to run away, but obviously being alone and scared Eric would go back to see what happened to Ben. Maybe he came back to see Ben dead and missing his legs from the predator attack, and Eric didn't want things to eat Ben because you know being sentimental and stuff, so maybe Eric moved Ben further up the tree to stop things from eating him further

3:54 or a monsoon flung his body around and got caught higher in the tree... I agree he was more likely alive when the raptors rip-off his legs, but he was too weak to climb higher into the tree and the raptors would give up after he died from blood loss. A monsoon could get strong enough winds to fling his body higher into the tree.
@sandiekelley8513 Жыл бұрын
Another thought on how he got higher in the tree. Raptors grab his legs and hang and yank on them pulling him lower as the branches bend. When his legs detach the branches don't have them pulling down so they spring up and yank his body up where it gets snagged higher in the tree till being dislodged by her. His body thus falls back down to hang lower than it was before. Face to face with her.

I didn't really think about it until now but aren't the raptors supposed to be hyper intelligent? So if they were smart, wouldn't they have had a few guarding the nests?
@Marcus_awesome_gaming Жыл бұрын
5:53 I like the theory of the Raptors eating him, but there’s one problem and it’s that the dinosaurs on Isla Sorna have common sense. For example, the Raptors only attacked the humans when they stole the eggs and Spinosaurus mostly only attacked humans when Cooper shot at the Spinosaurus or when they injured the spinosaurus Fin after they were trying to leave on the plane. So there would be no real reason for the Raptors to attack him. I also like the theory of the pteranodons but how would they even get out of their cage? But if the pteranodons did get out of the cage, then I do believe that they would’ve eaten him, but for me, the most likely answer is probably bugs coming to eat him.

Forgot about that one. But that’s a bit of a plot hole in and of itself; the Pteranodon at the end of Lost World didn’t leave the island, but the others who were caged did? Unfortunately the third movie is a bit of a mess and is notorious for not explaining the things it sets up.

hard to believe the internal injuries thing, since Eric was up front. What hit Ben would surely have hit Eric first, absorbing the impacts. So Eric would have died of those injuries, and Ben would have survived.

I've always had a little problem with the pterosaur theory as, you don't see any anywhere when they're on the air strip or anywhere else. up until you hit the aviary scene and then you see lots of them. Even then they accidently left the gate open, and this was loads of scenes after they find Ben's body. can someone please explain where the pterosaur theory came from, I'm genuinely curious.

I’m not gonna lie I may have not have known Ben, but that would’ve been cool to have him as my stepdad. For him to go out that way that was just so tragic like literally. I never really got too much into how he died. I mean I never thought about it at all. My guess was the reason he was much further up in to the trees that may be the pteranodons did bring him up to the tree possibly maybe they ripped his legs off they could do that. But either way, maybe it was the velociraptors that chewed his legs off and he probably maybe with only strength he had he managed to get further up in the tree to try and stop the blood loss. Unfortunately, that was enough to have him succumb and maybe the parasites of the jungle decided to consume his remaining flesh but either way, my moneys on both the pteranodons are probably the pteranodons because they could still rip legs off limbs off you never know. My guess is the pteranodon probably held them up to the tree maybe got entangled after his death ripping his skin off his head, leaving him half of skeleton. It’s possible the pteranodon may be tried to get his body out, but couldn’t because it was too entangled. Couldn’t take it anywhere in the trees where are they were was not a very good spot to be. So that’s how I believe been probably succumbed to a horrible death. The part about where he suffered injuries in the script, then dies as Eric is all on his own. They make it seem like he died there but, however, if you all remember if anyone remembers the story of John Chapman from the battle of tukar ghar? Anybody who has seen that US 24th squadron combat controller face off against many Al-Qaeda operatives by himself by drone footage. You would notice that the first time he goes down is seal team brothers in arms thought he was dead. Didn’t have time to stick around like Ben he passed out like John Chapman both passed out and sooner or later they came to then died. I’m sorry I had to bring John Chapman into this but it’s just something that had to be told because it makes sense that Eric probably thought he died. And then suddenly maybe sometime later he did come to but however, he ended up getting consumed in the most brutal way. I literally had a tear in my eye watching this when I was a kid. I literally just couldn’t believe this character was killed off. I never knew him that well, but clearly he was a compassionate, caring, lovable man it’s just really sad. How is death was just horrific. I think what I found even more depressing was the fact that when they’re rolling up the parachute and yeah, I can guarantee you they’re probably not gonna have time for a ceremony for him. We know they’re not gonna have time to recover his body so they just leave his body. They’re just sad like completely sad

Rain, the rain water filled the canopy after (could be before) he was dead and had his legs eaten. Which pulled him up higher. The rain either evaporated or maybe a small hole formed to cause the water to leak out.

To me raptor apeared, but also big dino, big dino got Ben by the legs (like the t-rex couple in jp2), elevated him but got stuck by parachute in the tree, so big dino just got the legs and leave.

you are doing some good telling of plots then explain in the first movie when the t-rex pushed the car over the side with the 2 swinging on the cable .the car goes over and yet it ends up on the other sice of the tree which is impossiable .

Easy explanation.... two raptors grabbed his legs and weighed down the tree limbs. When his flesh ripped loose he catapulted into the tree canopy tangled in cables and what was left of his legs rotted off. EWW

I don't think the Raptors killed Ben. After all, they never targeted any of the cast until Billy took two of their eggs. So, unless Ben managed to steal one of the Raptor eggs while still entangled in the parasail (hardly possible), they would have had no reason to target him.
@victoriasteel6930 Жыл бұрын
Huh, yeah that theory makes sense. I always thought that it was simply that he climbed higher and died of his own injuries. Due to the length of time he's mostly skeletonised, so without anything holding his legs up they drop. The bones then get grabbed and thats how they find him.

I always thought they were too low to the ground under the canopy for pterodactyls to get him, figured Raptors saw him in the tree, jumped at his legs while alive, snagged his legs and as the legs yanked off it caused his body to be sling-shotted higher in the tree.
