@@baydiac I thought that's mostly what OP was saying. The funding was a huge issue: only 11 days total of filming (not all of which was consecutive), many elements of plot and filming had to be cut for that reason. According to one article, the folks renting out the building used for ATLAS chose to jack up their prices during the filming. Presumably they heard "video game company" and assumed they had money to spare when in fact this was crowdfunded via Kickstarter. The pub location was much friendlier but it sounds like more interactions at the pub were cut due to a double-booking and the filming folks wanting to be courteous to an actual funeral party. All the setbacks, including all the time, energy, and additionally the personal money that had to be invested to ensure this was completed - I understand the guy not wanting to go through all that a second time.

i feel for julia around the 50 minute mark. i noticed the tape matched and was also extremely frustrated that there wasn't any way to call that out at the time. i think the whole contradiction system works, but it does lead to pretty frequent situations where I want to be like "Hey, so-and-so said this, care to respond?" and it just isn't a thing you can do.

The biggest mystery to me is how Kate managed to get a PhD straight out of college, that application must've been mind blowing 👀✨ [Edit] Wait I think I should give some context: I'm a uni lecturer in England/about to hand in my PhD and LET ME TELL YOU how freaking competitive this is, sheeeeesh. Any uni would almost insta reject anyone coming straight from college into a PhD, they barely consider ppl who "only have" a bachelors degree - a masters is considered a bare minimum. So unless Kate was absolutely brilliant and had some groundbreaking ideas and an absolutely stellar proposal with prospective supervisors willing to vouch for her AND paid it out of her own pocket so they wouldnt waste their precious scholarships on a potential fluke, she would not have stood a chance in the selection process... so what I am saying is Kate had it going ON and I am impressed.

alright i'm only like 1:14 minutes in, and they might address it later, but did that guy at the pond have a hookah????? like, did they want him to have a bong, couldn't get one, and then just settled for a hookah? or did they buy a hookah thinking it was the same thing as a bong?? I just mean, a hookah isn't something you drag around like that. You have to set it up, and wait for it to get warm, and it gets really hot!
