I dropped the podcast because I was getting burned out of all things art (been watching since the first episode btw), and I come back to find out it ended. I'm certainly sad but also very glad it happened, I will very much refer to it for the rest of my life and career and recommend it to death to my art peers and friends. Thank you so much for all you guys have done for the art community, especially the younger ones like you said, I'm one of those in fact. There were innumerable times I was pulled out a rut, doubt in my skill, uncertainty because of quarantine and other many things. Bless you both and all the Draftsmen pod team, I wish you all peace, happiness and freedom!

These are perhaps some or the most substantive, high vibe podcasts I’ve ever subscribed to. Marshall has so many sublime insights that come of so much rich creative living and experience. I love these. I’m happy there are a few additional podcasts that have come forth since this ending one. What gems.

I wanted to cry hearing you guys talk about allowing people to share their ideas in a safe place. I worked for an ad agency last year (first time in that environment) and when speaking about our concepts, I was immediately told that my ideas were elementary and not what they wanted in front of all my peers. I had never felt so embarrassed and humiliated at a place of work, I quit that same day. This was not an environment that nurtured. I knew I had to have bad ideas to work to the good but had my confidence shot in a way that has really messed me up as a designer. I haven’t been back to a design job since. I’ve been focusing on improving my craft as an illustrator and trying new things that have nothing to do with art or design. That has helped me get back into the swing of things. Thank you guys so much for your podcasts, you have no idea how much this has helped me. Thank you! ❤

So glad to have seen this series flourish and I'm looking forward to seeing what you two make going forward. Thanks for the mention at 4:50. "Ideation" is not completely interchangeable with creativity, but it is better-defined in the context of teaching design. Students can stumble due to the common belief that creativity is an innate personality trait. To echo Stan, it's intimidating. In the world of concept art, ideation is simply about mapping out the possibility space so that the team can choose the best path for production, and the process can be as systematic as the designer wants it to be. Creativity itself is not a process as much as it is the result of process.

I would very much love to hear Marshall on more podcast about creativity and books for the creative or ideator. Something I wanted to add is that creativity is very much a collecting of dots and connecting them. If you don't think you are creative collect better dots.

Thank you both and the crew so much for this podcasts... sad its no more. I was introduced to so many great artists, knowledge and ideas over the years, on top of being entertained. Although its not hard to find technical tutorials in making art, its so much harder to find a good source of information on how to BE and CONTINUE BEING an artist. The podcast quenched that end of my thirst. I visit my favorite episodes bunch of times when i am struggling and will do the same for the rest of my life. I hope to see the podcast comeback again... if it ever does.

Hey Marshall, hey Stan, I started my "drawing-journey" 2 years ago, with the beginning of the first lockdown here in Berlin. I really what to thank you for the podcast, because it really helped me to stick to the subject. Because of you two I discovered "Radiorunner's curriculum for the solo artist", and it really helped me to organise myself, continues to do so. Your platform, your podcast, gave me recommendations and resources that I am actively using and that I would not have had otherwise. So I guess what I am trying to say is thank you. Because this podcast helped me in more way than one, opening up possibilities for deeper learning and I am sad it is ending but glad you made this for people like me. Byebye, you are awesome

I remember finding the draftsman podcast all the way back in episode 2 of season 1. I had just decided to focus on my art and dedicate time to learning, growing, improving, and working, towards the goals i had. I remember being very lost and overwhelmed with just the idea of the journey that was to come. And being nervous and a little scared of it. I didn't know much about art but knew I wanted to do something with it. And I didn't know where to start but I knew I wanted too. And then on one seemingly regular day this strange podcast appeared in my recommend list and, I clicked on it. I wasn't expecting to find one of the most interesting and inspiring podcast, that would go on to change and shape the way I learn, grow, and improve, towards the goals I have, but I did! This podcast has held a pretty special place in my heart over the last 2 years, and I genuinely hope it continues to hold that place. So what i guess im trying to say is thanks for shedding some light on this journey we call art. And making this path a bit less foggy for a 17 year old artist who didn't even now where to begin. And thank you for being something that I could always tune into, whenever I felt excited, confused, tired, happy, or whatever else I was feeling over these last 2 wonderful years full of learning with this podcast. So from the bottom of my heart thank you Marshall and Stan for making the a podcast that has impacted me and my journey in ways i couldn't even describe. Thanks Marshall and Stan ❤

As someone that has been following since season 1 I congratulate you both Stan and Marshall for your work in these 3 or so years, I have to admit that Draftsmen was probably the only podcast that I even bothered to follow weekly and every time it gave me a lot to think about. And while I think that the energy of the firsts season wasn't fully present in this last one I still enjoyed it. May you Stan along with Marshall and the Proko team have success in your next endeavors.

I actually never comment on draftsmen channel because my lack of english but I actually followed you guys from the very beginning of draftsmen in Proko's channel. I even download a lot of your episodes so I can listen to it over and over while working on my own projects. I know this is not the last episode since Stan said he will continue but I will miss these weekly videos you guys did, it helped me learning many subjects I didn't know or didn't need, especially for me to learn better english (I know mine is far away from being good but I understand anything you guys talked about). Exciting to see what will happen to this channel in the future! I hope there will be more Marshall featured videos since he's a charismatic and interesting smart men.

Hi there you two. I started watching this podcast religiously in 2019 during a major change in my life. This was at a time that I was terrified because I believed I had very little access to creativity but I've known all along I was meant to be a creative. I'm no longer scared because I now know who I am and why I struggled, you both have played a major role in this discovery and I'm eternally grateful for that. The respect that I've gained for myself and for art has been the greatest revelation of my life and it doesn't seem to be slowing down. This last year, everytime I have pondered another struggle I was coming up on, there seemed to be a new epsiode that helped me begin to conquer it. I have the utmost respect for the both of you and wish success to you and your team at every turn. Thank you Stan and Marshall.

I've significantly improved my creative block by improving my self confidence and removing identity attachment to my work. When I fail, I don't feel like *I* failed, rather I tried something that ultimately helped me learn and progress on a greater journey. I don't feel so bound to a given failure, or success for that matter. This has increased my creativity a lot as I feel much more fearless and hopeful for the things I work on, knowing that I don't need them to be perfect.

My class did the same thing in creative writing as Marshall mentioned, though I think my teacher called it unconscious writing. We also had an activity where we were assigned postcards to each student and were required to write something for them. It didn't necessarily have to be about said person. It was pretty open to anything. We uploaded them anonymously onto a google doc, which I think was also helpful in letting go of any fear while creating. I also think it's worth noting that those postcards were useful in that writing on something small and random or seemingly insignificant, like a sticky note, seems to put any worries at ease when creating. I've used the postcards for drawing because of that class, and going in, I don't care about the product because there's already a pretty picture on the front. I'd recommend tactics like that for getting over creative blocks.

The other thing about taste is that sometimes you confuse your feelings of frustration for real reasons to dislike the work. So personally I have had this experience where I look back on an artwork and yeah, I am better than that now - but that artwork was actually much better than I thought it was at the time. And I evidently had a clearer purpose than I felt I did at the time.
