PLEASE NOTE my final answer at 10:26 should be 3.968. There is an annotation correction but you can only see this if using FLASH.
In a three part video I do many examples of solving equations using logarithms to move the variable out of the exponent. In part two we remove logarithms from the equation to solve for X.
Here are my other PreCalculus lessons involving Logarithms

The Power Rule of Logs allows you to drop down the exponent with the variable and it becomes (3r-1)Log5=(2r+5)Log6. You can use Ln too. Find the decimal answer of Log5 and Log6 and then distribute that number through each respective parenthesis and finish solving for r.

For your first question you need move the exponent of 3 down as a coefficient, divide both sides by 3, and then take the equation out of log form. The second equation you need to start by taking the log or ln of both sides so you can move the exponents down with the variables so you can solve for r. I hope these tips along with my three videos can help.

Rewrite ln2+lnx as ln(2x)=5...then you can put the equation into exponential form (or make both sides an exponent of e) and you get 2x=e^5. Divide both sides by 2 and you have your answer:) Thank you very much for watching!

GREAT VIDEO MR BAM!!! I am doing an online (Distance Education) course for College Algebra and Trig as a refresher before I move on to my STEM classes such as Calc I-III, Chem as well as Physics next semester. This online experience has been horrible as for as support from the professor and the teaching method- well the teacher is me--- has ended up being very difficult. I realize how much I miss the interaction in a classroom environment and the need to be able to ask questions in class when I do not understand something. That is where you have come in. I know watch your videos before I begin each new chapter and then embark upon the assignments and if there is any doubt, I just rewatch your video until you answer or solve that particular question/doubt (which you do about 95% of the time). I can not THANK YOU ENOUGH, YOU HAVE BEEN THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. REALLY WITHOUT YOUR VIDEOS I WOULD BE IN A BAD SITUATION. There are other videos out there, but no one has yet to be quite as detailed or concise as your videos, at least in my opinion. I was actually using a pay tutor website for videos until I found you about a month ago. I do not need to do this anymore. I will be making a donation Prof T soon and YOU ARE TO BE GRACIOUSLY COMMENDED ON YOUR DEDICATION AND FREE HELP YOU GIVE US MATH STUDENTS. YOUR GENEROSITY IS BEYOND BELIEF. Ok, back to doing my homework as you so often tell us to do. Practice, practice, practice..... BAM!! I AM OUTTA HERE!!!

brian keith haven't been referred to as Mr Bam until now:) Love it! Sorry to hear you are having such a bad online experience but I'm extremely happy to hear that my channel is helping fill the void of the in-class interaction. We do hear that complaint quite often though:( Hopefully, as the amount of online classes continue to grow the teaching tools will advance as well. In the meantime it sounds like you have the drive, determination and study skills to make the most of a less than ideal situation...which is what will get you that diploma in the end! Looks like I won't be able to help you much past Calc 1 but as long as I can, I hope you will continue to enjoy my channel and find the help you need. Did you check out my website?...you might find it easier to search from. www.profrobbob.com (there is even a printable flyer you could post at school for us:) Thanks for taking the time to send such an appreciative and inspiring comment and for sharing your learning (or lack of) experience with us...students like you are the reason why we work so hard to groW this channel and keep these lessons FREE for everyone who is willing to invest the time it takes to learn. Full-time teaching and KZbin is like having 2 full-time jobs...but as long as my wife and I feel like the reward is greater than the work we will keep doing all we can to continue it's growth. Which is another reason we continually ask students to like, subscribe, support the ads, share thru social media's, with classmates, friends and teachers and to keep supporting and sharing...that's what you can do to help us since you are 100% on point of how to get the most out of this channel:) Please keep us posted on your progress...you already feel like one of my own students...BAM!!! Could I ask what math class you are in. I don't remember ever seeing problems like yours in the trig books I have taught from, or PreCalculus with sin and cos in the exponents in an equation like yours. While I am working on Calculus videos, I am also refreshing my own skills as I go. I am not familiar working with problems like yours sorry.
@profrobbob
@profrobbob 12 жыл бұрын
If you need your answer in exact form... You will mult both sides by log(2) and then move up the 2x to be an exponent. Make both sides of the equation an exponent of 10 so you can cancel out the log functions. This will give you the equation 0=2^(2x) + 2^x -12. The coefficients of the first and second term is 1, remember 2 is the base of the exponent, so this equation is factorable. One factor once set to 0 has no solution, while the other factor once set = 0 gives the soln x=log(3)/log(2).

I just typed your first question into a calculator and got -2.9029. As far as your second problem start by taking the log of both sides of the equation, any base of log is fine. That will allow you to drop down the exponents with the variables. Distribute log2 through x+1 and log5 through 1-2x...continue solving the linear equation that is left.

oh, also when I posted I meant to put "ln(e3)" as "ln(2x)-ln(5)=ln(e^3)" so does that mean that the ln(e^3) cancel since in the videos you say the ln and e cancel each other out?

I figured that, and yes ln(e^3) is 3 because the like bases of e cancel.
