In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we arrive back to Langkawi with a boat full of NEW gear to install onto Nandji. Upon our return to the boatyard, we had a special delivery from Australia, our NEW Stern tube! We had been waiting on this to arrive for weeks as we need to install the stern tube, to then install the shaft so we can align and position the new engine correctly.
We have had a trickle of water though the hull on the outside of the stern tube since we burnt out a bearing on our journey to the boatyard and created a hole in the old stern tube. We take you through the installation process of the new Stern tube and solve our water leak for good!
With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! We have just sailed 2000nm through Indonesia and have arrived to the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the next big adventure. Currently on the hard stand, we are re-powering and completing a major refit!
We departed Australia 18 months ago and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced different cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades! Indian Ocean here we come!!

You got lucky with that flange, it's called thread galling and it is basically cold welding. By banging on the threaded flange the pressure and friction generated can cause the threads to seize. It can be so bad that it actually welds together and you have to cut it to free it. Always use some sort of anti-seize with that sort of thing. Something like tefgel, lanacote, or permatex will help prevent that. It can happen with any sort of threaded bolt so be careful of that in the future, especially when working on that pretty new engine you're about to install. You are going to love that new prop, you'll be amazed at how much extra speed it really does give when sailing.

Good Job! Great video. Top tip: Pull the stern tube in with long threaded rod down the tube and big washers each end by tightening nuts on threaded rod. Your nearly there! Roll on splash day . The Brunton is an awesome prop. You will be amazed at the performance. Under sail, Motor sailing and at close quarters maneuvering. 15 Years and two boats on, the Brunton is the best compromise for all props in all conditions we would not have anything else!! Sail safe.
