A "dobby" is, in Lancanshire and Yorkshire folklore, a term for a hobgoblin that has a strong prankster mindset, but can also be very industrious and help with chores around the house. The expression "Master Dobbs has helped you" was used to indicate that someone has accomplished a greater amount of work than expected (with the extra coming from the dobby).

I housed a little trash goblin from Lithuania before the pandemic hit. One time she dropped her entire dinner on the floor while she was heading to her room, but scooped it up and ate it anyways. She loves Hatsune Miku and has since moved back to my country, so I hope I can visit her again soon. She was a lovely housemate. ^^ Bonus fact, she got her internship at the game company where my partner works by submitting a self-portrait in all her goblin glory.

I eventually moved out and life moved on. Now I have a dryer of my own and kids that are constantly losing socks. No matter the color, size, or condition there's always one lost. Now curious minds are beginning to notice and ask about said missing socks.........may the legend live on!!!

Favorite Goblin Fact: Hayao Miyazaki once described the Totoros as goblins. He says they have an "easygoing, carefree” attitude, they don’t try to frighten people, and they're more like animals than spirits or something mystical. I think it's very interesting to see how fantasy creatures get interpreted differently by various cultures around the world.

Sweet build! Did you know the term "hobgoblin" was mentioned in Tolkien's published fiction only once? Gandalf referred to them in The Hobbit. In a later preface, JRRT alludes to hobgoblins being a "larger kind" of goblin, and then even later mentions in a letter that originally hobgoblins were smaller, not larger, than their goblin cousins. Fascinating stuff, you'll agree.

In folklore and mythology, goblins are often depicted as mischievous or malevolent creatures that can cause trouble for humans. However, the exact depiction of goblins varies depending on the cultural context. In some traditions, goblins are described as ugly and deformed, while in others they are portrayed as tiny, impish beings with a knack for trickery. In medieval Europe, goblins were often associated with mines and caves, and were said to be the spirits of the miners who had died while working there. They were believed to cause accidents and misfortune to those who entered the mines. Another interesting fact is that the word "goblin" is thought to have originated from the Old French word "gobelin," which referred to a mischievous household spirit. This word is thought to have ultimately come from the Greek word "kobalos," which means "rogue" or "rascal." Love your channel and the video! Keep it good sir :)

I have a goblin named Nettle Rainweaver that I enjoy playing in my ttrpg She’s a descendant of an extremely rich and powerful merchant family, but willfully avoids her families lavish life, much more enjoying the chaos of her adventures (and explosives) using her alchemical knowledge to get in all kinds of shenanigans. While she may not live in a nice quaint cottage like this by choice, it would look perfect as one of her families many estates in the country side (that she would definitely take advantage of them never using to lay low when her explosives piss off the wrong people 😅) Great build over all, and a very calming video to watch as I recover from needing some stitches recently keeping me from crafting myself

My favorite D&D character was a goblin, her name was Gnarrb much like hazel she lived in a tight household. She couldn't wait to leave and become an adventurer. Life is hard for a goblin always being looked down on by the bigger folk, so goblins make do. She wanted to prove all the big folk wrong, and she did she slayed dragons and befriended sea monsters, and came home a hero. The fact in this story is also it's moral, no matter how small you are or long your ears you can change the world.

I don't need the cottage, but I will give a goblin fact anyway. Goblins love Crab Apples the way other folk love regular apples. The sour flavor is more to their taste. As crab apple trees are necessary for the pollination of regular apple trees (look it up, this is a real fact), many orchard keepers are more tolerant of goblins sneaking onto their orchards to take crab apples. Some goblins even keep their own orchards, if they have the coin for the land, though they sell all the sickly sweet regular apples (or "toothrot apples" as the goblins call them). If you pick a goblin's pocket, they're liable to have a few crab apples or crab apple byproducts.

I will give you two goblin facts, one being related to our world and one related to my little gobbos. 1st, most cultures around the world have a creature that is similar to a goblin from old European folklore however in most stories, they are connected to homes and are more like a house spirit than an angry little green man who is planning to attack you for your valuables. 2nd, if you give a Goblin a magic-imbued piece of stone they will absorb its magic and their skin will change colour? That is where all my goblin friends get their name, The Blue Moon Clan.

"Le Gobelin" (The Goblin) is the most prestigious animation school. Which makes sense, honestly.

Fun fact, Puca is the Irish for Goblin. They were mischievous fairies who liked creating havoc in the mortal world, they enjoyed confusing and terrorizing humans. Despite this they are considered to be benevolent.

Cork bricks! Who knew? Oh wait, you did. I need to invest in some coconut fibers. Cotton balls for light diffusion. Very nice, I'm filing that one away for future use. The house looks great, so now you can jack the rent up on them like a REAL landlord. : )

This was another comment, but apparently poly fill (pillow stuffing) is better and less flammable than cotton balls. Thanks for watching T-Nu!

A happy goblin home from which the smells of various types of "greens" emanate. It is a fact that the different colors of goblins enjoy different kinds of "greens". Green goblins love turnip, orange goblins go for mustard, and red goblins eat collards.

I read a long time ago that the word "Goblin" comes from an old story about the wicked Gnome King of some mountain whose name was Gob, and all his children were called "Goblings." I can't find a reference to that story anymore, though.

While searching for that source on the gnome king (whose name was spelled "Ghob," apparently), I found a ton of information on where goblins originated. The true answer is likely lost to antiquity, and possibly originated in many different locations around the globe (nearly EVERY culture has their version of a goblin in it, including Japan and certain African countries), but the word goblin probably came from "Kobalos," or "Kobold," whose roots come from "gob," meaning a crevice or crack in a sea cliff and probably referred to some imagined creature dwelling therein. There are tons of mythical little people, spirits, sprites, or fairies that the word "goblin" can be used to describe, many of them could be considered helpful (hobgoblins, in particular!) but most considered mischievous or malevolent, so truly the word is a moving target, and what a goblin "is" cannot be discretely defined. Personally, I like how the word "goblin" is extremely evocative--I just imagine some dingy little humanoid living in a cave, who is vaguely resentful of the humans living nearby and so resorts to playing pranks on them because he/she is incapable of doing any actual harm.

Some goblins prefer to leave the socks in. Like how some people drink tea with the teabag in the cup and others take it out.
