It's odd to me that I like the most beautiful and simple puzzles (Japanese design philosophy), and also the monsters made from at least mostly different types of wood; and yet I have no time whatsoever for anything in between, or that deviates from that formula. It's like the puzzle has to be aesthetically pleasing to me personally, or I simply don't care.

That original cube still isn't cut from one piece of metal. Do some research on it. They do make the most precise cuts of any kind of metal cutting, but they still cut it from 2 pieces of metal and put them together then buff the top of the piece to make it all look like a single piece cut. There's no physical way to make a cut without removing at least the width of whatever wire you're using to make the cut.
