@5:30 is that one of the robots (what's left of it) that's used to enter the reactor? And I noticed that most of the vehicles the engine was taken out why is that?

Yes, this is soviet made robot( Lunahod). It was used to clean up the roof of unit # 3 from graphite and radiocative rubble which were brought there by the explosion of unit # 4. The engines were taken out for parts or used in other vehicles in and outside the zone.

Both the silver and yellow machines were used on the roof of reactor 3. The yellow one I believe is a German made machine nicknamed “the joker”. I think all this machinery has now been removed.

It's more painful to think of the pilots who flew them back in 86 are possibly all dead by now...

I have thought about that too, and I didn't say it's more painful to see an Mi-24 in this shape. I simply said it pains me to see an Mi-24 like this. I will go on a limb and say anyone that flew missions to contain the fire/radiation are all gone. An entire Mi-8 crew was lost during the containment, after they'd been overdosed with radiation and collided with guy-wires. Maybe they were the lucky ones since they died fast and not over time by exposure.
