Kirsten, bedankt voor prachtige footage. Fijn om Nederlander te zien tussen Duitse en Engels/ Amerikaanse KZbinrs. Moest Soma Bay even opzoeken, nooit eerder gehoord. Dank!!

Hey Jeroen, dankjewel!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm truly passionate about windsurfing, and it means a lot to me to inspire, especially women. If my adventures on the water can motivate and encourage others to embrace the excitement of windsurfing, then I'm thrilled! I am writing this with a smile on my face after discovering that KZbin tells me that my public is ~5% women.... Lots of inpiration to do, I guess! I will continue to support and uplift each other in the windsurfing community...

Is it really worth the investment? Is you sailing experience extensively upgraded buy this north rig?
@KirstenBaasNED166 Жыл бұрын
Hey Francois (@FrancoisTCS), great question! The worth of investing in a North Sail/Rig, or any gear for that matter, is a personal call influenced by several factors. Here's my take: Freqquency of usage: Consider how often you hit the water. The more you sail, the more value you'll likely extract from a quality rig. Financial situation: Assess your budget and whether the investment aligns with your financial comfort. The difference between new gear/brands is not so great. Joy of windsurfing: If windsurfing brings you immense happiness, investing in high-performance gear can elevate that joy. Mastery level: Your skill level matters. Advanced gear might offer more benefits to an experienced windsurfer. Differences in feel: Can you perceive the nuances and improvements offered by the North rig? Ambitions: Your windsurfing goals play a role. If you're aiming high, quality gear can be a game-changer. Durability: Consider the long-term durability of the gear. A more durable rig might justify a higher upfront cost. Handling: Smooth handling can significantly enhance your overall windsurfing experience. Innovation: I think the North rig/sail (air cambers, material etc ) wasn't just an update. I love to embrace and support the latest innovations in windsufing tech. Most importantly, the decision comes down to whether you genuinely desire new gear. While the monetary difference may not be huge when compared to the joy and performance you gain, it's essential to evaluate where you're coming from and what you're accustomed to. Personally, I compared the North sail/rig to what I knew, started with the 6.8, and was blown away by its advantages in performance, durability, range, handling, and even travel convenience. It's safe to say I'm genuinely excited and enthusiastic about these sails. Hope this helps you make an informed decision!

@@KirstenBaasNED166 Thank you for your detailed answer. Let’s say it like this. I am reasonably good on flat water windsurfing between 13-30kt. I want to do it at low level of gear, which leads me to use one board (112l/69cm long distance Thommen) and 2 sails (S_Pace 7,8 and 6,6). As a consequence I cannot pretend doing competition 😬🙏🏼. I enjoy riding with similar minded people and push my limits from time to time in local speed challenge. I’ll have to change my sails in 2-3years, and have always been attracted by the 3D and membrane tech (avanti, phantom, north)… north is the first which really make a 3D. I’ll have to try and see if it makes a difference in my sailing feelings.

These new NS Sails are extremely expensive, not for hobby windsurfers/customers...although everything is produced in Asia...

Thanks, I appreciate your perspective on this. Personally, I feel a deep connection to supporting innovation and design, especially when it originates from the creativity of Dutch entrepreneurs and innovators. It's been an incredible journey for me to witness these ideas evolve from concept to prototype and finally, fully realized products, with sails being a crucial component. In my windsurfing experience, I've come to understand that each of us has a unique journey, and the gear we choose should resonate with our individual purpose and values. I genuinely value the essence of finding equipment that aligns seamlessly with one's personal windsurfing aspirations. The charm of innovative design and advanced technology in the windsurfing world is something I hold dear. Witnessing brands invest in pushing the boundaries of performance and durability is not just impressive, but it adds a fascinating edge to our windsurfing experiences. In a market saturated with options, it's inspiring to see brands like North or Tribal prioritise innovation. In the end, our individual journeys contribute to the richness and joy that define this sport. Here's to more innovation, more unique stories, and the collective joy we find in windsurfing!
