Watched this because I just ordered a frame and fork from Merry Sales (via LBS) (New Albion Privateer) (in Colonial Blue) and looking for everything adjacent in any way. I love Crank Bros too! They do not get any love so that was refreshing to see. Looking into the wheelset.

The Soma has become my primary indoor cycling bike for winter. I have been thinking about trying a new handlebar set up. I’ll have to check those out!

Really nice bike. I also like the fact is got colours. Most bike to these days only come in dull black, white, gray, silver (gray), or some other shade of commy gray 🙄.. Exactly the same with new cars.

Thanks for the breakdown! That little rear brake noodle is such a PITA. Limits your brake options. I have a clamp-on Origin8 cable stop on the rear of the top tube that gets in the way. Great bike tho. I also replaced my (stolen) Crosscheck with the 2013 Doublecross.

Yeah that was I think one of the first things Soma changed on the following iterations of the DC frame and now they do the disc only 😢

I'm so intrigued by the Double Cross for its classic design and light weight steel frame, but it gets little coverage in the media (including KZbin). I wonder how much they had to beef up the fork to handle the disc brakes. I'll probably go with the Surly Midnight Special, but I'll always regret not having ridden the Double Cross.

I still think the tubing selection and paint Soma uses is higher quality than what Surly uses. I’ve owned bikes from both companies and was much more impressed with the quality of the Soma. I would buy another Soma, but not another Surly.

I’m 5’ 5” on a size 48 frame.

Ryan Teeramate I’m 5’10” on a 52, with 700c wheels I had toe overlap, went to 650b with no problems.
