+Many A True Nerd You only needed to disconnect one of the plugs, would have left enough power for her 'life support' while also allowing for the transport to work. Same with Carl; there is another power switch to allow access to the comm centre. It makes reaching it dangerous but also doesn't leave the Carl screaming and sobbing in pain...

I'm enjoying this! I like all the underwater stuff and I hope we get to see what the land looks like at some point. It feels like it's a long time after the meteor impact, though. I find the sphincter poking to get information a bit odd; have to wonder about programmers sometimes.

Oh god Jon, yes, please more! I had a really long day and ending up passing out for a few hours. When I woke up, Soma part 2 was in my notifications and I started jumping up and down like a madman. I really like this series so far, and I would love for you to continue it. I'm also really happy that you don't like jumpscares either, it makes me feel like I'm not THAT much of a wimp.

I'm enjoying this. Not sure if I'd get it for myself as I had to rearrange my computer room when playing Amnesia as I used to have my back to the door. The desk was moved again so I'd once more have to shift things around ;-)

keep playing!!! this game is incredible. its creepy, but not in your face scary. the atmosphere is perfect. the underwater setting increases the creepyness from all the water leaks, creaking, and overall disrepair of the structures. Catherine is awesome. She must have really had the "Make the best of a bad situation" type personality as a human. I wanna know more about what happened to Simon. maybe in 2015 simon was the first successful experiment. the guys who built the rig went on to create the company that started the ark project. I wanna know why he's in 2103(?) in that body.

I am loving this. I thought that they would just be trying to scare the pants off of you, but it is so story driven. I already want to see how it goes. I find myself wishing that you would look over your shoulder, though, whenever I hear some of that rumbling. It is somewhat scary to me. I'd love to see more of this.

I would love to see this through to the end, but seeing as my backlog is growing faster than I can complete games anymore, it is likely I'll never be able to do it myself. Watching you play on my bus ride to work, however, is much more feasible! I hope that you continue playing.

I am about half way through the game myself and I would love to see your reactions to some of the things to come, I am very immersed and invested in the world and hopefully you will be as well.. It really is a very interesting story and a unique concept, my vote is to keep the series going.

Having watched other playthroughs of this game, you've still got a lot of story to go! The plot is pretty awesome and messes with your mind quite a bit. This is great with your style of commentary, you should totally keep playing. The body you are in isn't a body at all its one of those diving suits we saw in the starting room hence the breathing under water and the torch inside your face/helmet :D

I like that so far there hasn't been any big focused on moments that try to force the player to think about the morality of what he's doing to the robots. It's entirely optional to care.

Also I just realized SOMA is the happy drug in the novel Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. I definitely think there's a bit of brave new world inspiration going on with the neural machines, structure gels etc.

There's a book called "The Android's Dream" by John Scalzi that uses the 'Brain Scan' plot point in almost the exact same way as this game. Which isn't to say they stole it from his book, but that this is a trope I really want to be explored more and more because it really makes you think. If we can scan our brains and have all our memories and act the same, what's the uniqueness of 'self'?

I don't think that Catherine improved his mood, I think it's because Catherine explained what happened, told him what he is, and what happened, and gave him a purpose, to launch the ARK and save them both. I suppose having her to talk to probably helped though.
