Wow... Just wow. I continued that action of holding hand over heart, repeating the mantra "I am safe here and now." And I began to sob. Just completely wept. Intensely, beautiful practice. I'm so glad that I got to experience this. The nervous, anxious, and overwhelm I was feeling has drastically dissipated. I feel so so fucking good, lol.

Thank you so much for this amazing practice! How do you not have more views? This is the first thing that has worked for my anxiety in a while. I have ADHD so being able to move my body and not just focus on my breath is helpful! I feel like a lot of anxiety reduction techniques are inappropriate for me because they ignore the body and then I am even more trapped in my mind. This is perfect! Exactly what I needed. Going to check out the rest of your videos now!

Hallo Emily❤ I'm doing my recovery and healing program in Alcoholics Anonymous now. There are no words to tell you how grateful I am to you. These exercises and meditations do support me and help me to ground, to connect to my body (I lost this connection long long ago). As I'm at the very beginning of my path, things are not good most of the time, but your videos are the real jewel. Thank you a million times❤

I keep having ads pop up for somatic workouts. It costs money. Of course. I finally decided to research on KZbin somatic workouts. I mean, obviously somatic workouts are on my ad algorithm for a reason lol This is the first video I decided to commit 13 minutes to. I was skeptical watching this video at first. I felt weird. I felt especially weird when I was rubbing my arms on my bare legs (I'm wearing shorts, not pants lol) But then I started to relax and let it be. I felt a weird sensation in my left armpit while rubbing my legs. The friction while rubbing my legs was also bizarre. I didn't like rubbing my bare hands on my bare legs. But I kept doing it. And it brought relief to my back. The craziest part of all was what you suggested next. To put my right hand under my left armpit. WTF were the chances of that? My damn left armpit was feeling all weird (and still is) while rubbing my legs and then you instruct me to essentially soothe it? Girl, I was skeptical but now I'm ready to watch some more. You got me crying, experiencing weird sensations, and then having me soothe the exact spot that was uncomfortable. I am a skeptic no more. Thank you for providing this resource. That shit hit deep and to think that it's free. Okay, Ima go ahead and hit next now. I'm ready to watch (or listen, rather) to some more. 13:05 minutes of my life well spent. No pun intended.

Sometimes somatic exercises bring up sensations we weren’t expecting, like heaviness or fatigue. If it feels like you’re working hard, perhaps let your body rest, and simply visualize yourself doing the exercises. That may be more accessible.
@MollyTheMoonchild3 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for these exercises! I found myself yawning a lot after the hand squeeze, and my body was gently rocking side to side on its own volition as I was doing the hug at the end... Are these signs of release too?
@EmilyWinterSE3 ай бұрын
Yes, rocking and yawning are attempts to downregulate the system and discharge energy.

This is usually a sign of emotional release/down-regulation of the nervous system.

Sounds like you had an emotional release, which is really common when we start to settle down from anxiety.
@anthonyiuculano600210 ай бұрын
Hi! I got more emotional after this and then it became uncomfortable so I figured it was best to stop. Is there any way to amend this practice in cases where it causes discomfort?
@EmilyWinterSE10 ай бұрын
Hi there. Sorry this brought up a lot of discomfort for you! That can happen sometimes. Was it only one part of the exercises that made you upset, or the entire thing? Another option for working with anxiety might be to try my “grounding” video or “the power of voo” and see if those feel better.
@anthonyiuculano60029 ай бұрын
@@EmilyWinterSE hi, Thanks for getting back to me. I noticed it as soon as I swayed from side to side.I was feeling anxious from what is perhaps my most powerful trigger and when I started to sway, it's like there were tears that were bunching up in my face and wanting to release but were not able to. I didn't continue with the rest because I felt overwhelmed. Maybe I can try those, instead. I'll keep you posted! 😊

I felt nauseous at first, then sleepy then I wanted to start laughing then by the end i teared up a lil ...can someone tell me what that means?? Am I i broken?? 🥹
@EmilyWinterSE6 ай бұрын
You are not broken. These are all signs of your nervous system responding to the exercises in various ways. When we do these exercises we wake up our viscera where we store emotional energy. So it sounds like you had a little release.

🍊Hi Emily! This whole subject is so interesting, for me... The body at some point registers certain information, which will soon generate a physiological response. Once I feel that I am in the same situation as that of origin, the response will be similar... This seems to be something natural, sometimes there is a response to a danger that is not there, yet the same response is produced. There is a process that repeats itself... until it manages to integrate new information... I suppose having different tools might smooth it out... 🍎The exercise of squeezing has to do with you, one of my responses in some social situations is the tremor of the hands, and look how peculiar: it's something that trying to hide, is noticed by others... 🙄Thank you, Emily, for the video, for the beautiful surroundings and... for feeding my mind...
@EmilyWinterSE Жыл бұрын
Hi Rita. You are correct in the first part of your comment about the body going through a series of innate responses based on a memory being triggered (and the memory can also be a bodily memory, not connected to a story). Regarding your tremor a Somatic Experiencing session could help you identify the origin or perhaps explore soothing tools for you. Developing a short daily practice around getting your nervous system grounded might help too. Sending best wishes.

@@EmilyWinterSE could you say in general that people are able to do this on their own? Or rather work with the trainer aside?

One reason I put these on KZbin is that many people can do them on their own. However, I always find it’s helpful to have a little coaching or guidance on the side if it’s available.
