Some Assembly Required- Rugged Made 22 Ton Log Splitter!
I got tired of bending over 100's of times while splitting a cord of wood, so I started shopping for a log splitter with hydraulic lift. Most of the ones I found were $4,000-$8,000!! Then I found an economical one: the Rugged Made 22 ton log splitter with hydraulic lift, and a log table that catches the pieces as they are split. It did need to be assembled, so this video is about the assembly of my new Rugged Made log splitter!!
Cool stuff we use around the farm, plus buy anything on Amazon and help out the channel and no extra cost to you: www.amazon.com/shop/dehavenfa...

Download the video to your phone so you can take it with you to the garage. I have no internet in garage either but download works perfectly. I’m about halfway putting mine together.

I just got mine in yesterday and had it up and running in about 3 hours. It’s really not that bad if you watch the assembly video a few times before you get into it. A few things that really helped me out was; pair all of your nuts and bolts together before you even start assembling anything, unwrap all of the parts and lay them out so they’re easily seen, and have the assembly video loaded up on your phone for quick reference. I’ve heard several people complain about having to go in the house or another room and look on their computer for the video, and go back out and work. The internet is at your fingertips, it’s really not that complicated

3 hrs for the assembly? Even if you have done many of these before, I don't see that being possible. Especially by yourself. Set aside a full day. You're gonna need it. Worth it though.

That looks like a dandy log splitter! I have not seen one with a log lift before. I’ve had my 100 acres of woods logged every 10 years. You can have some pretty big chunks of wood cleaning up after the loggers, that would be handy. My old splitter is the tip up kind.

Nice looking, heavy built log spitter there. I'm looking forward to seeing in action. It's a little over 250 miles from me to you. I don't have a big enough trailer to make hauling hay from you to me work. Most everybody around is out of hay or selling it at 50 percent more than last fall.

Good morning from NH. So I too just bought the same splitter. I had been looking for a long time for a new one. I watch GP OUTDOORS and Gordon has a Raven and I like the Duel action. Also watch Out Doors with the Morgan's Mike uses a WolfRidge and I like that one as well.. Then I found This one Rugged Made and looked hard at it. Seemed like a great machine. Every one that had one loved it.. so I pulled the trigger last Saturday and purchased it. To my surprise it was sitting on the loading dock where I work on Tuesday. Wow fast. Got it home and ripped into it.. I knew the only instructions where a video on line. They SUCKED.. So I jumped in.. hahahah first night 4 hours and I was like this is a pain in the ass having to watch over and over to do this.. like you I ran out of time and jumped back into it last night.. all this time I had my son's help. Even with two people watching the video it still was a bit difficult but 5 more hours and it looks great. I am not a mechanic but turned my share of wrenches in my life time.. It was a very challenging build. Now I have to add all the fluids and watch for all the possible leaks.. But I can't wait.. I to am tired of killing my back at my age so I am looking forward to this new toy. My other log splitter is 50 year's old and still works great but it was time. I am glad I found your channel and will be watching. Have a great weekend. Stay safe and always be kind. Go 603👍

It definitely was a pain to put together, but so far its been worth it! I just couldn't see spending $5,000-$8,000 on a splitter to get the options I wanted. Good luck with yours, and I appreciate you watching 🙂

@@dehavenfamilyfarm Good morning. Yes that was my thought on the price. I got to use it a little yesterday and the first thing I did notice is it vibrates the entire machine. So I was thinking about mounting the engine with rubber mounts to see if that would help. I have a big generator that is mounted like that. What is your thoughts? Other then that is seems like a good machine. I was a little taken back when I read the comments on your video and the other log splitter you have they said this one was made in China. I plan to email Rugged Made and asking them. I was under the impression that it was made in the US. That's one of the biggest reason I got it. It to late now but I hope if I need parts I can get them. Have a great day. Stay safe and always be kind. Go 603👍

And remember...like all other things small motor related...use only non ethanol gas. This will remove many, MANY problems with the motor and carb. My chainsaw, weed whipper, log splitter, atv, ice auger...pretty much everything but my vehicles use non ethonal gas and I have had zero issue with even the cheapest of motors with it. My log splitter motor failed and I replaced it almost 10 years ago with a harbor freight motor. change the oil In it annually and only use non ethonal gas and it starts second pull...year after year. I want one with a lift now too...not getting any younger and kids are becoming less and less helpful as they move on. nice unit

Be careful with the trunion mounted cylinder they had a tendency to tear the trunions off the cylinder. Rear mounted cylinder would be more durable but they are making them cheaper all the time may never give an issue but I have seen it happen!

Maybe, but that assembly video was kind of annoying 🤣 I really struggle sometimes with balancing showing the work versus a quick explanation just because I am trying to keep the videos short. This video would have been especially difficult because it took me a total of almost 8 hours to do everything lol

I only put 5 gallons of fluid in mine and when I crunk it up the hydraulics just skipped and will not go freely do you thank that from low hydro fluid ?
@jorrick66
@jorrick66 3 жыл бұрын
They call for 8 gallons of fluid. I put 7 gallons in mine, started it, and cycled the hydraulics. Worked great after the initial jerking while it purged the air. Once I had all the air out, I retracted all of my cylinders and topped off the tank. Ended up putting 7.5-7.75 gallons of fluid in it total
