Here, in southern Spain, fruit trees such as orange and lemon trees are also painted white with lime, to protect them from ants and other insects. And not only the trees, the facades of the houses are traditionally painted with lime as a method of sterilization and to keep the house cool in summer.

Good Morning from the SF Bay Area. I love seeing you hang with the guys at the Convent, you really look happy with the crew. It must be overwhelming to have this huge property and be doing most of the work yourself. I do not read the live comments so I am unaware of the creepies who are being nasty. Ignore them! End of winter stall, lots of us get that. Warm weather and sunshine cranks the motor over again. ( I find it really bad this winter as we haven’t had many sunny days. Spring will be in Eastern Ont Canada in an other 6-8 weeks) enjoy the sun.

I have just caught up binge watching your channel. Because I've pretty much seen a few years worth of your life in about a months time I can tell you what I've noticed. First of all....I miss seeing Angelina. Second ...I have seen a pattern with your emotional well being and the sunshine. Phil, anyone with your workload is bound to get tired. And, yes, many of us get seasonal adjustment disorder (SAD) in the winter months due to a lack of sunlight. So, yeah, recharge your body's solar cells. You deserve a break. 🎭

My dad painted his orchard trees with the white lime. The ants won’t get into the trunks of the fruit trees! Good job sir!

Maryland - We have a very useful spreading cherry tree in our garden in Haute-Provence and we have as a friendly neighbour, an expert gardener. For several years now, the tree has been suffering from pucerons who would climb up the trunk and attack the leaves. We had a rather sorry sight of bunches of leaves all crinkled up and not looking at all healthy as well spewing down onto our heads a sort of thin sticky substance. Our neighbour got us to do exactly what Philip has done and the problem has been largely solved. So once a year we now whiten the tree trunk. We also bought a box of ladybirds who got to work eating them. One of the big problems I see all too often is ivy spreading across the ground and going up bushes and trees, eventually smothering them. Trees tend to die off and eventually fall down, if nothing is done about it. Mind you, we've also had a tree surgeon to come and trim our cherry tree with a lot of care. Unfortunately his nephew (apprentice) suddenly found himself confronted with one of the biggest wasp nests I've ever seen. It was completely hidden in the tree and we had absolutely no idea it was there. They knew how to deal with it, but unfortunately he did get stung.

Hello, I remember when we lived in Phoenix Arizona, just a few years back, it was a good thing to paint the citrus tree trunks white. It kept them from getting sun burned! As you may know it gets very hot there in the summer. It was interesting to hear about your trees with the lime wash and it's purpose. Have a great weekend and have fun with Billy.

I was literally just going to look up why trees have white paint - and there you are! I watch some of the chateau channels and I wonder how much caffeine you all ingest to keep going - I'd be exhausted every day after keeping up with your "To Do" list. I totally relate with your mechanical issues as my car has been in the shop more than out the last four months. It seems impossible to get anything done when you constantly have to rejig your entire day at a moment's notice due to lack of tools and vehicles! You all are facing a Sisyphean task with these big buildings, and side gigs, as well as making time for family, friends, and yourselves. The weather looks gigeous where you are! I still have ice and snow in my yard 🙄so I envy your colourful daffs, pops of green 🌼🏵, and pain au chocolat. The days are getting longer, and I'm sure that you, like me, will get a burst of energy with sunnier days. Truly, our star sheds "a whole new light": on things! Sois courageux mon ami! 💪

Here in the US, all manufactures except Canon no longer do their own repairs, slowing the process down when needed. Sony has also been developing a reputation of not addressing repair issues, even under warranty. The menu system in a Canon is much easier to understand and the full flip out screen on the back makes shooting from many angles so much easier than with a Sony. Try both before you purchase anything new. i suggest you look at the video Nick Page recently posted for better details. One other bonus, there are tens of thousand;s of Canon Pro FD L lenses on the marked used, and they actually improve with the new R mirrorless system. I'm not a Canon fanboy, just a retired Pro who has shot with every brand over the years and settled on Canon because of service and how well their AF works.
