Some Blues Scale Stuff | Adding Four Notes to It?

The blues scale is a nice combination of notes but it needs to played melodically. In addition, one can add 4 more notes to the blues scale, as I demonstrate. This makes it a ten-note scale, which is only two notes less than the chromatic scale! The point is, you emphasise note values against chords for best effects. This video provides some ideas over a 145 and 251 progression, with a bonus secret at the end.

Well, I thought your very recent video lesson “Some Blue Scale Stuff” is short and sweet which I like it much. To me when we often play “Diatonic” (major and minor scales) it tends to become too soothing and boring. However, by adding few “blue scales” like b3, tritone, b5, 6 etc it certainly makes the music more interesting, and dissonant or simply playing two Jazz Voicing (left hand). Great video lesson, much appreciated, Dan.👍👍

Started taking a jazz Improv class at my college and im glad to have a leg up with your content. We started with tenor madness inwhich most of my solo was with Bb blues scales idea with some melodic quotes. Do you have any videos on specific improv exercises and ideas? so i can expand for the next song(which I love you - mexican hayride)
