The blues scale is a nice combination of notes but it needs to played melodically. In addition, one can add 4 more notes to the blues scale, as I demonstrate. This makes it a ten-note scale, which is only two notes less than the chromatic scale! The point is, you emphasise note values against chords for best effects. This video provides some ideas over a 145 and 251 progression, with a bonus secret at the end.
