Hi Sarah, great channel! If you haven't already done the rear window tint remover yet, try using steam to heat the tint before removing. If you do it right, you can remove the tint and glue at one shot.
@3Wheels1Block5 жыл бұрын
That is the way to go, you can use a trash bag to contain the heat and soften the tint and you can wipe it off.
@johnmorgan16295 жыл бұрын
Or warm up with hairdryer on cool, this also softens the glue, sure she'll have one or two of these.
@vcr2105 жыл бұрын
I agree with the steamer idea! Works a treat!!
@dre3k785 жыл бұрын
Yup use a steamer for all the windows and the tint will come off in one piece if you are careful. Rear windows can be tricky but on a MR2 the window being so small and flat it shouldnt be too hard. Black trash bag will work on the rear as well....leave it out in the sun to heat up the adhesive.
@dj12835 жыл бұрын
Neeno that is good idea because that window tint is cheap one most expensive window tints is harder to remove.

Watched a minute and had to comment, I learned that you spray the same application fluid (that you can buy in the kits at autozone) as you go with the blade. Once it gets underneath, it's much easier, but looks like you got it. **Pro-tip if you install it ever again, spray the crap out of it on install and worry about the bubbles once it's in place. I tell people, "You can't get it wet enough." -back to watching....

Great job, Sarah. I just bought a 91 as well and was going to swap the baby lip to the same one you did. Gave me good tips! Keep up the great work!
@Patrick94GSR5 жыл бұрын
Reminds me of when I swapped my 94 Integra mirrors for 98-01 mirrors. I ordered a pair off eBay but the ones I received were from a Phoenix Yellow RHD Type R, which meant the left side mirror was angled farther than the right side instead of vice versa. So I had to take them apart, de-pin the plugs and everything and swap the bases over to the mirror bases from my LHD car to make them work properly.
@louislazarus27345 жыл бұрын
When things like that lip don''t quite fit right and you have to drill new holes, you might think about aluminum rivets or a product called "Nutsert" if rivets won't do. Nutserts are little threaded devices that fit into a hole in sheet metal, plastic or anything thin and once you "squish" them down, they turn that simple hole into a threaded hole for most common machine screws. The kit comes with several popular sizes such as 10-24, 1/4-20, 8-32 etc. and you can also buy metric sizes. They work great!

Just a small tip when taking window tint off use a clothes steamer .heat the windows with steam makes the glue come off and the window tint just peels of . no scrapping involved. if there is any glue left behind a rag and steamer should just wipe off. also i did my old civic and changed the rear glass tint also and went over the defrost lines and no problem didn't harm them one bit...but be careful steam and yes its hot...

if you soak the tint with windex, cover it with a trash bag and leave it out in the sun for a few hours the tint will almost fall off! also wash thinner (cheap thinner used to clean a paint gun) will wipe any glue residue off without any scrapping required

Great ideas on the lip install, looks great! One time I got a total BS fixit ticket for lightly tinted side windows on my pickup. When I tried peeling it off, I could only get tiny pieces at a time. The next morning was chilly when I tried again and this time I was able to rip huge chunks off. Had the tint off both windows in about 5 minutes, cleaned the adhesive off with solvent in about 15 min. Cold weather made a big difference.

Great work! BTW, I had one of those spring retainers fail in a mirror. They fail in older cars, so you might have this problem in the future. I had to drill out the center post that the spring goes around and run a bolt with big washers on both ends to compress it.

Intro = 🔥🔥🔥🔥 That window tint can be so tedious! Mr. Dos looks spectacular! All that hard work is really paying off! That lip install came out very well, you should be proud, those things can be tricky to get good fitment. When adding any bolt on parts that are poly-carbonate you can use a heat gun to reform the part... You did an A+ Job making it tight!
@MD-sc1jk5 жыл бұрын
you could use one of those clothes steamers to removed the tint, specially on the back window to avoid damaging the defroster lines.
