Some Fascinating History at ALL SAINT’S CHURCH in WARLINGHAM

In this Video, I am in Warlingham in Surrey and have made a Return to the Ancient All Saint’s Church. The Church Dates from around 1250 ACE when it was built by Gregory who was the Vicar at that time with much of that Structure remaining today. The Church has some Historic Firsts including the testing of the First Book of Modern Prayer and the BBC! Lunch is at the 15th Century White Lion Pub.

A good piece of advice there!! We wouldn’t be human if we didn’t do something similar a number of times in a lifetime. We discussed the painting of St Christopher in another church - he is always depicted by the door - so you travel safely- think he is also very large in comparison with other wall paintings. The yews are dated ( I think) by measuring their girth! They are older than the Giant Redwoods which we all think must be the oldest just by their height alone.

I wonder if the BBC used Warlingham as its first live broadcast as it was close to their R&D centre at kingswood warren. (That was open until 2010 and they developed teletext, HD television, DAB radio etc there!)

It could have well been because of BBC Kingswood Warren. My Friend worked there for many years in the 80's.
