Thank you Dr.Keener for your efforts in the greater Kingdom of God! You have been an inspiration for my Christian faith and studies. Your contagious passion for learning is one of the many reasons that I am beginning my M. Div. In the fall and look forward to working towards a PhD program. Thank you for all you do!

Hello Dr. Keener. Much respect. I’m curious as to whether you have read McGrew’s The Mirror or the Mask, and if you have an impression or opinion of the quality of the arguments Dr. McGrew presents. Perhaps you have published a review of the book which I have missed. Thank you.

Out of courtesy to my friendship with the McGrews, and out of lack of time to get into any long discussion, I decided not to respond to the book at this point or unless absolutely necessary. One could say briefly that I agree with some points and disagree with others, as is generally true with any critical reader of any book :-)

Good day dr. Keener thank you for the book recommendations. My only archeological book that I have is the collection of essays by James H. Charlesworth "Jesus and Archeology" from 2006. So I do think that I might need something more recent.

I have ordered your Commentary book on New Testament, and I m waiting forward to receive it from Romania to The Netherlands. And when I checked you on KZbin I was impresssed by the amount of books that i have seen in your background. I am curious, how many are they? How many books you have read? And when did you had ths time to finish them. They look like thousands, haha.
@CraigKeenerPhD3 жыл бұрын
Not sure how many I've read. I've written about 33 that are published so far. Definitely haven't written thousands, though :-)

Do you have a favorite commentary on 1st Corinthians? Chapter 5....I have a lot of debates about the man delivered to satan, with a group Called OSAS. I argue we must be a new creation, and they argue he was Once Saved Always Saved.
@CraigKeenerPhD2 жыл бұрын
Many good commentaries. My own commentary on 1-2 Corinthians is very short, not as detailed as the major commentaries. Mine was published in Cambridge NT Commentary series. I am behind on the newer 1 Corinthians commentaries.

@@CraigKeenerPhD thank you very much... may I ask which commentary (that is more recent) that most lines up with your take on the man in 1 Corinthians 5 who is delivered to satan?

Hello Dr Keener. I'm recently getting into Biblical scholarship and don't know where to start. Can you recommend anything for NT authorship and dating? Do you also know any good Old Testament biblical scholars?
@CraigKeenerPhD3 жыл бұрын
I started with George Ladd's New Testament theology, but that was in the 1980s. There are many good New Testament introductions; one is by Gary Burge and Gene Green, The NT in Antiquity (make sure you get the newest version). One old but still useful, very short book is F. F. Bruce, The NT Documents: Are They Reliable? (Bruce's Message of the NT is great too, but probably out of print. Both are very short so good starters.) For my NT intro class I also use my IVP Bible Background Commentary: New Testament (2014 ed.) for some key readings to see how background sheds light on the NT. But wow, there are so many good books I don't know where to start! For Old Testament, Tremper Longman, Rick Hess, John Walton and others are really good (admittedly, I'm WAY behind on OT scholarship)

Publishers, not authors, set prices on books. The 1100-page one is over $50, but the newer, 300-page one in paperback is $25 on Amazon, and I predonated all my own profits to charity.
