What a solid player Ian Hill is. Much respect to him for being such a great foundation. Priest do put on a great show. Think I saw them in 08 or 09 and they were great. That was interesting about playing that B note in two different areas in succession. Something I never really thought of in the context of a riff before. Very cool!

3-4 years ago I had to learn this for a Judas Priest tribute band I was in. I couldn't find anyone on KZbin covering it at the time. So I worked it out myself made my own cover and put it up here on KZbin. Compared to what you got here, I think I did pretty good. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah the use of the B flat on both strings reminds me of when I was trying to learn Vital Signs by Rush by ear. When it gets to the fill in the reggae like part I was curious how the B flat just sounds off when you just stick to doing it on the 1st fret on the A string, but then I found an isolated track where you can hear Geddy clearly shift up to 6th fret on the E string. Just goes to show that playing the same note but in a different spot can make a difference lol loved the video as always!

A+ as usual. Thanks Troy as I had asked you to cover a Priest tune a while ago so much gratitude to you for this one People get down on Ian Hill but I think he plays the right thing at the right time and let Glenn and KK do their thing. I was not into Heavy Metal music....BUTT....there are a few Bands and tunes of that genre that I did appreciate! I did in fact listen to a bit of Judas Priest and that was because MTV played them so much that after awhile I gave in to the musicianship of their work! As you mentioned too Troy, as we get older it's amazing how many tunes and bands we end up enjoying after all those earlier younger years of absolutely avoiding that "style of music"! For me, I've never been a cord or note guy as I learned to play my Bass from simply hearing and watching how and where The Real Rocker deployed their fingers on the necks of their Axes! Trial and error ever since but for me it has worked! Appreciate the story of Mike Fransko! Cheers From Ohio Bruddah

Awesome choice & cover ! For me Defenders of the Faith is Judas Priest best album and Ian Hill is a great bass player. When you have two lead guitar players like KK and Glenn and a singer like Rob Halford, the bass and the drums has to be very solid and work as a foundation...

Gotta give "Dreamer Deceiver" a go sometime.....that one, and "Run of the Mill" were Ian's best. Priest simplified the rhythm section (Bass/Drums) after Stained Class for a more mainstream metal sound.....it just never compared to the epic early days.
