It sounds like the shelters are for people who want to get out of living on the streets. These fellows do not seem to want to leave the streets.

Yup And when you give money, supplies etc it's like giving another beer to the alcoholic. There comes a point when you have to stop being accepting of everything. There is a thing called tough love and its needed badly.

I digress that in a shelter, they need rules. Most that are homeless usually have very little self-respect, something as simple as making your bed every day has been proven to help improve your approach to the day. A militray camp is what i believe is the answer. Discipline, respect, and hard work will help, not the handout, victim mentality supported by B.C government!

So-called 'Free' Country.... where you are truly only "FREE' to conform, go to work and PAY into the system as a good little consumer.... typically nowadays as a Debt-Slave incurring 'cradle to grave' DEBT merely to participate ? These people in my view anyways.... choose NOT to participate as a Debt-Slave, and live devoid of the so-called 'free' societies imposed structured rules/regs/confines inclusive of DEBT obligation ?

I can see their point. They can stay at a shelter during the night, but have to leave in the morning.Where are they supposed to go during the day? That still leaves them homeless. There must be a better solution. They don't need a shelter they need a permanent place to call home.

The entire society is broken. people can't find job to escape from this situation, and government incentives people to go homeless. meanwhile the hardworking ones barely survive. Canada once a great country, but now it more and more likes a shit hole.

Shelters want you to work and put aside money so you can leave, then they turn around and say you can't work past 7 or 8pm. If you can only find a night or evening shift they instantly play uno reverse and say well you can't have a bed if you're out past curfew working nights.. Out of 3 shifts available they only allow you to be working during the day.. That cuts their job prospects by 2/3.... That's if they even give you a bed... Shelters in my area have what is called overflow... where you're expected to sleep in a chair.. laying on the floor is not allowed. the fastest and easiest way to get congestive heart failure is to be forced to sleep in a chair sitting upright for long periods of time.. there's no coming back from congestive heart failure... it slowly kills you over time... There is also the issue of safety in a shelter. Too many people in close proximity and some of those people should be in mental health facilities. Those people causing problems due to mental illness they refuse to treat only get booted from the shelter after a violent assault on someone else, not before, when they can see it coming by their behavior from a mile away..

Cigarettes are expensive , quit and save up for a place, recovery and restarting your life is not for those that need it but those that want it

They run from rules & responsibility at all cost (otherwise they'd have homes/places). 99% of them still wanna do their illegal drugs or drink whenever. That's the real answer

Interviewed some well-spoken peeps which signaled that this wasn't in the United States. Hope you guys can get rid of TRUE-DOUGH and things get better just like we want to get rid of the masked pre-adolescent sn1ffer.

stop blaming trudeau, we dont have a president. If anything it is the conservatives that would vote against any type of social safety net. When the conservatives do get back into power, and they will, that is how our system works, things are going to get worse, not better.
