I’m betting these fa20dit engines will be great when pushing only 1000 kgs of car. I’m in the middle of a retro mod Porsche 914 with the fa engine and box. I only did it because the car was cut up before I got it.

Jacob Raymond Two very cheap stereo mics off of Amazon, one taped to my license plate frame, the other to my passenger side strut tower under the hood. It actually ended up sounding pretty much exactly like what it sounds like to be in the car.

Hi mate, how did you find the T3 DBA Rotors with good pads? Were they capable on track? Or do you really need the Brembos?
@tr4ck_day4 жыл бұрын
I loved the DBAs, and the price is right. Its a heavy car but good track rated pads and DBAs can handle more than 98% of drivers are going to throw at them. The factory brembos are trash for track honestly, if you've out-grown stock calipers with heavy duty pads and fluid, you'll need to move on to an AP or Stoptech setup.
@Steve-qr2lm4 жыл бұрын
@@tr4ck_day thanks so much for your reply, really appreciate the info, just ordered some DBA T3's for track work for my WRX, so glad I didn't waste money on Brembo's for no reason.

White Wing STI You know, I wasn't even recording my lap times this particular day out but my personal best Sonoma lap is 1:59.8 I'll be back at Sonoma a week from today with new coilovers, tires, wheels, brakes, brake cooling ducts, racing seat, and harnesses and I'll be keeping track for sure. I'll be sure to post another video with my best time, keep an eye out for it!

How do you like running just the rear sway? I am considering going this route with my 15 wrx
@tr4ck_day7 жыл бұрын
TJ Almeida Its pretty much mandatory if you're going to do anything but drive the car on the street. If you push the car anywhere near the limit it will understeer very badly. A big rear sway bar dials in some much needed rotation.

what is the highest the oil temperature you've seen on track? just wondering
@tr4ck_day6 жыл бұрын
Before I had an oil cooler I would see temps as high as 260ish, after I installed the cooler it lowered the temps by about 20° to 240ish. FAs run hot!
@Scott-mc3fv6 жыл бұрын
@@tr4ck_day damn lmfao on the street doing pulls ive seen 230 and got worried i was gonna blow it up at least ive got a bit of peace of mind now
@tr4ck_day6 жыл бұрын
@@Scott-mc3fv 230 is hot for the street but right around 260 is the max operational temp for 5-30 synth. You're breaking down your oil faster than average hitting those temps though so you should decrease your oil change intervals.

nice i guess i can ask you this question since you track your car. So how well has the Grimmspeed TMIC performed on hot track days? Would you upgrade to a FMIC or stay TMIC?
@tr4ck_day7 жыл бұрын
LouisGmedia It performed amazing. Even on very hot days my intake temps stayed right in the normal range. I would only go front mount if I was trying to make the maximum amount of HP possible. It takes a lot longer to build boost back up after you off throttle with a front mount. The total system volume is much greater, and will be considerably laggier.

Nice run, in a well specced WRX. Damned DI cars sound like there is something wrong with them... The chitterchatter sound they make sounds like lifter tick in a poorly lubricated 8v 2.0L VW motor. They run good... but boy do they make alot of mechanical noise.

Hello, I am in the process of setting up a new WRX for a few track days a year. I really love the way you have mic'ed your engine bay and exhaust. Would you mind sharing your video/microphone setup with others? Your car sounds great man! Are you running a stock bottom end? That thing is running like a sewing machine! I plan on grabbing up some RCE T'2's next week as my second major modification to the car. How do you like them? You drive the shit out of that thing man, well done!
