To me, the 60's was the greatest decade ever!. I just discovered the music of Nancy Sinatra. I recently purchased her recent release "Start Walking" solely for the cover! Had a childhood crush on her. I only knew her for her hit "These boots were made for walking. I was pleasantly surprised how good she was. Never heard of Lee Hazelwood before. What a fantastic record! Highly recommended!

I was 4. I remember the old Admiral tube radio we had. I remember hearing Herb Alpert. Spanish Flea and Taste of Honey. Couldn't get them out of my head. I liked jazz when I was little, for some odd reason. Only rock songs that caught my attention to remember hearing them, was, 96 Tears and Walk Don't Run. My record collection at the time was The Bunny Hop, Barbar the Elephant, and Sid Catlett and Ben Webster's Cadillac Slim. Had one of those little RCA alligator case record players. I also, did have that exact '63 Corvette model, but I got it in the 1970's. Most of the gear I collect is from 1965-1967. My 2 RCA reel to reels and V-M 368 have that class A, 60's sound like nothing else.

Quite a selection. There's a book called, 1966: The Year the Decade Exploded, by renowned cultural historian and music writer/journalist Jon Savage. I didn't know about Lou Rawls. I like (Medley with Monologue) It Was a Very Good Year. Been listening on utube. I bought da Capo and Forever Changes almost exactly 20 years ago. The latter is a classic of course, but I've listened to da Capo more. Its a favourite. Esther Ofarim sings a beautiful version of Taste of Honey. There's also Paul Desmond featuring Jim Hall, comes to mind.

Great assortment of albums Kenny. Most groups would be sunk if a great singer like Signe Anderson left but the Airplane somehow got Grace Slick and "took off" even more. On TV: Green Acres and The Beverly Hillbillies poking fun at pretentiousness, Daniel Boone with the gentle giant Rosey Greer, Batman, the Flintstones debut, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown first airs, How the Grich Stole Christmas first airs. Also a lot of conflict as society struggled to turn the page from many ugly historical injustices. Many people gave a lot to move us closer to our potential as a species. As a society, we've come a long way but we still have a ways to go. Like Peter Tosh says to Mick Jagger in (You Gotta Walk) Don't Look Back. Even if your feet are hurting, "You gotta keep on walking." ✌️👊🤙👍💪 P.s. People saying you look like Mr. Clean ain't so bad. At least it's not Mr. Magoo, or worse, Mr. Ed! 😂

That's a tough question. 1966 was indeed an awesome year. I was in grammar school but I bathed in the vibe. But I would also at 1969-71. I'm Brasiian and went wild when Sergio Mendes and Brasil '66 dropped, along with the introduction of Bossa Nova. To hear THAT music in the United States was too much. I live in a college town and it saddens me that kids nowadays have been programmed to dismiss any music that's not current. Ironically, when there are festivals there are never any bands playing their music but when there is a band they ALWAYS play old school jams. So there are those who didn't succumb to the music industry's efforts to brainwash them away from listening to earlier music in order to profit from what's being presently produced now but those kids usually have parents who are Boomers.

I was 10yrs old in 1966, I remember the music and TV shows. Another great TV show was The Fugitive, I still watch it on METV. The 60’s was a crazy decade for more than music, TV, movies. My older brother was 16 at the time so he had some of the records you mentioned. It’s hard to pin down the Coollest Year of the 60’s but I have read that 1966 was the best year so for now I agree it was great and Cool…✌

1966 was a fun year for me. I was 4 years old and it's the first year I can remember in its entirety. I was deep in to the pop culture then because of my older brother and sister's consumption of what was going on. I was a rabid fan of the television shows Batman and The Monkees. I enjoyed all of the classic cartoons in the morning and the latest shows in living color in the evening. The fashion looks, car models and technology of that time look cool to me today. Of course, the music of that year was killer. I remember hearing most of them when they were new because of my home having a Top 40 AM station on all of the time. I remember a disc jockey announcing a new Beatles song called Paperback Writer was about to be played on the station for the first time. I'd love to go back to that year in a Time Machine and experience it through older eyes but that isn't going to happen. All we have are the memories and the artistic output from that great year.

Brother Kenny, love this video as you bring out some of the best about 1966! Goldfinger (have 8 copies of) and Thunderball (6 copies of) from John Barry and Leslie Bricusse Soundtracks are out of this world! Thanks for talking about Sandy Koufax as well! That name will always be remembered in baseball history! Just picked up Sinatra, 'Live at the Sands', thanks for your recommendation here! I was born at the end of 1958, which was amazing for Jazz, but you're right, the mid 60's were fantabulous as well! Peace and love as always my brother!
