The Deacons of Defense were a group of Black Men who were former veterans from WW2 and the Korean WAR that believed in armed defense. They were from Louisiana and would provide security in the 1960’s for Martin and other Black people when the KKK or other racists groups would threaten Black folks.

The Jamestown settlers were faced with extreme starvation and yes some did resort to cannibalism to survive. As has others throughout the millenia! So just calling them cannables without the context of their circumstances is SHAMEFUL!

#3 There was an old saying about the difference between a black who lived in the south as opposed to the north. Blacks in the south could live next to whites, just don't get too big. Blacks who lived in the north, you can get as big as you want, but you can't live too close.😢

Ase'. I had not thought about the US territories not voting and what that might look like if they had congressional representation.

If any could help me add to my better understanding of the slave trade in the US, i would greatly appreciate any and all help, especially at which point the country truly, from my standpoint, ended profiting from the sale of human beings. Specifically, when did the morally reprehensible and repugnant theft of the Haitien people's national wealth by France and the USA finally come to an end? A true end to our slave economy was when the last Hatien payment was extorted, in my opinion and I think it no exaggeration to add it is a fact. Thing is, damn if I can recall the day or relative date that ended our part in extortion of Haiti's national wealth and hope someone reading this might know. Thanks for considering it, my eternal gratitude for the answer if known. Meanwhile, Mr. Harriot is to US history what Michael Jordan was to getting air in the game of basketball. In short: a singularity. Plus great wit! ❤

Here is the biggest myth taught in every education institution in America: US slavery was a brutal and savage practice that subjugated black people. How do I KNOW this? Because I asked the slaves themselves; the people who lived through it. There was a historian named Alan Lomax who travelled through the South and he captured the rural culture and history of the region during the Great Depression. He was sent by the Roosevelt Administration to film, record and interview black and white Southerners about their lives in the South. He interviewed them about the Civil War, slavery, recorded their music, among many other things. Most slaves DID NOT attest to the 'Roots' version of slavery in which black people were dehumanized and horribly abused. When is theGrio going to listen to the voices of their ancestors? When is theGrio going to listen to the voices of the marginalized? When is theGrio going to listen to the slaves who "built this country"?
