Agree 100%. I was sceptical before and after I bought the machine. But my productivity has gone through the roof. It’s stopped the endless fiddling I used to do when trying to type a first draft,

I get the point, but I still don’t feel that point is worth the price of 500-900 bucks. Especially when other products are doing the same thing for a about tenth of the price. Thanks for your video, maybe you can go into the product more (if you haven’t already done so). You sound like you have more to say and I want to hear it! 👍

I have the Traveler. Yes, these are pricey, but the quality is there. If you adjust for inflation, they cost what a good typewriter cost years ago. If you can afford one, they are worth it.

The reason I don't buy it is just because it's too expensive... But I see the value on it.

Everything that he says about productivity, I accomplished on a typewriter. I have a manual and an electric. Both get the job done. Only thing is you can't bring it out in the coffee shops, or I imagine you'd get some death glares.

Is there enough room in the rom of the typewriter to have a separate word processor like AlphaWord that we could move a document into and proof it on typewriter without having to move it to another device where we are again dealing with distractions? I think it would be great if we could stay on the typewriter for the whole process. It would make the Freewrite even more versatile and more relevant to a wide range of people Resulting in more sales. A writer could have a document or documents they're working on in draft mode and have a separate document or documents they're working on in proofing your editing mode. In a way it would be like having two separate machines on your desk with both of them being distraction free. The thing is when I write I really don't wanna do it on anything else but the typewriter, hence the reason for this suggestion. Maybe doing a survey of customers who have purchased the Freewrite would yield some insight on whether I'm alone or not in this desire to have it be both a drafting machine and an editing machine. And the keyboard doesn't need to be a limiting factor because there are specially keys that would allow for some cording to happen for additional functionality.

Unless you're visually impaired, then they don't give a rip. I would encourage people considering buying this product to boycott it until they make larger fonts available on the device. There's a lot of very bright young people out there and a lot of them are empathetic to other people with things going on that don't affect them. These people are not the kind of young people who seem to care about anyone else but themselves. I asked to see the typewrite before they even shipped the first unit, and could never get a look at one, that was years ago. But they would send units out to people who would promote their business such as the different media outlets. I asked for the font size increase before they started working on the traveler, and had no luck with them. They said I could order one and they look into the font size increase, well I got one and I have to lift it up all the time to see what I'm typing. I paid the same price as everyone else but I see less benefit because of their indifference. And yet they're developing another unit for people who don't like the weight and size of the existing device because they would have you believe they need it, when in reality, they want it. I want to see the font size increased by three steps from where it is at the highest level now and then wrap it within the borders of the display, so the text does not go off the display. This doesn't hinder anyone else who writes with it because it is by choice that somebody would set it to those higher font sizes. But it makes a world of difference for people like myself who don't have a choice on what we can use and can't use. Please demand that they make the changes to the firmware to include the larger font sizes for people who are visually impaired. There are tons of choices for people who have normal Vision out there to use all kinds of products for people who are officially impaired the choices are far more limited. 30 years ago if a piece of hardware like a typewriter was made and it was inaccessible, then we didn't have a choice at all and how we dealt with it. We simply have to make the best of it by counting and keeping everything in our heads because we couldn't see the text being displayed on the sheet of paper as it was going through the platinum. Today with E displays, there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to see it, and I showed them examples of what was done on the Kindle devices by Amazon to make them more readable, and none of that has made any difference to these people, because they just don't want to do it. Today because of firmware, there's no excuse anymore for not being able to make the changes except for the fact that they just don't want to do it. So If you consider buying one of these units and please remember that what they're not doing is a choice with these people. They don't deserve for the business.

Have you tried increasing the font size through Postbox? The large font is more than readable for most people.

Font sizes are adjustable from their web application, not from the device itself. That is admittedly a little weird, but it's definitely possible to increase the font size. The largest font is HUGE - if they increased it anymore it would be 1 word per line, with 4 words in on the whole screen or something ridiculous like that. I suspect you haven't read their article about increasing fonts? support.getfreewrite.com/article/18-changing-font-size-on-the-freewrite

Is two to three thousand words per hour really a good thing? Very, very, very, very few writers can write quality at that speed. One thousand words per hour has long been considered the maximum for most professional writers. Now, maybe you have the notion that all first drafts are garbage, which is complete nonsense. I hope you don't believe this for a second. All you have to do is look at the writing methods of hundreds of writers throughout the last two hundred years to prove beyond doubt that first drafts can be wildly wonderful, and that garbage first drafts almost never become high quality final drafts. Hemingway started the nonsense about all first drafts being sh*t. Trouble was, his own first drafts were exceptionally good. His final drafts did usually change a number of things, but his first drafts were still excellent. Better than the final drafts of most of his contemporizes. I suppose it doesn't matter much if you're self-publishing. There are no gatekeepers in self-publishing, no level of quality you must reach before being published, which is painfully obvious, and I do mean PAINFULLY obvious when you get the job of reading two hundred self-published novels. Well, as far into each novel as required to determine quality. About eighty percent of the time this meant reading two or three pages. Anyway, from selling quite a few novels, and from also working to help a couple of acquisition editors clear out slush piles, I can tell you that final drafts are only very seldom more than one level about first drafts. A garbage first draft will move up to a pretty bad final draft. A pretty bad first draft will move up to a mediocre final draft. A mediocre first draft will move up to an okay but completely unpublishable. From there you go from okay to good, but still unpublishable because it's same old, same old, same old that editors and readers have all seen a hundred time. Then comes good and publishable, though it won't be a bestseller. Only then do you go from good to great, something different, something that will make a splash. There are exceptions to everything, of course, but a terrible first draft turning into a really good, publishable final draft is an incredibly rare exception. Again, though, with self-publishing even a horrible final draft gets published. It might even earn a few dollars because other "writers" with terrible self-publoished novels say, "I'll buy yours if you buy mine." Anyway, I do know a couple of very good, traditionally published writers who use Freewrite, and I do see the allure. I always found it just as easy, and a lot cheaper, to turn off the internet on my laptop, but if it works, it works.
